it pays better than working the cash register at a supermarket. It doesn't pay as well as being a corporate lawyer.

Lawyers are already being replaced by AI
Hope you're not a lawyer, Anon
My parents are taking early retirement, they're lawyers
Only service industry and labor jobs will remain
              Also
97 percent of lawyers actually hold Bar cards because they don't work as attorneys they have other less-well-paid corporate jobs they're just specialized fact-checkers

OP become a plumber or diesel mechanic but yeah we'll always need cooks if you're into that

Still more expensive and then you need to hire a robot mechanic

I don't think you get payed just for being one. it might help with getting hired as a chef though

not if you're going to work in a kitchen
if you start coding or smth after being trained as a chef you will be paid well

With zero experience, you will start out in the bottom and be paid dirt. In fact, you'll likely have to stage a few times, which means working shifts for free until they decide to actually hire you on. If you're hungry, there's always going to be opportunities for overtime hours because your coworkers are the dregs of society and regularly just no call no show for most of their shifts, so if you don't value your free time, you can still make enough to survive. The more you get promoted, the less free time you have. I ended my career as chef de cuisine at a resort, I made a salary of $90k after taxes, but I lived in that kitchen for two years. Took a long time to get to that point of making "good" money for a high school dropout, but it wasn't worth it after a while.

Everyone I know who went to culinary school can single-handedly cook restaurant quality food in a home kitchen but most of them work restaurant industry jobs they don't like very much for too little pay. I have never met a self taught home cook who cooks as well as someone who went to culinary school.

    >Going to school so you can work with the dregs of society for $12/hr and have no social life or free time
    >Going to school for a job you can get if you have a fricking pulse
Unless you're already working as a cook and are really trying to go above and beyond...no, I still think you should just work your way up. I did the work for over a decade, got pretty high before I changed industries entirely, I never even finished high school.

It's more about workflow than actual cooking anyways.
