They are the opposite of fruit. Fruit wants to be eaten while seeds are the plant babies who protect themselves with toxins.

It's a good source fiber, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids. Low carb.
They don't taste good though, they taste like nothing, with a mediocre texture. My mom gave me a huge container of it, I've been working through it. It's not bad in almond milk, and maybe add other flavors like pumpkin spice.
Sprinkling it on random foods is dumb though. It's not magic dust, you need to eat a whole tablespoon or two.

Why should I make room for sneeds in my oatmeal? Oats already have fiber. It's just extra calories without nutritional value.

chia seeds have no nutritional value? are you sure about that?

Fairly sure. At least not something I can't get from better sources.

They have a soft gel-like texture when hydrated, so they add a creamy texture to whatever you put them in when you soak them in a liquid for a few hours. And if you weren't lazy, you could simply google the nutritional value of chia seeds and see the other benefits they have.

Yes that's why it's a staple in so many cultures

Big chia shills out in full force. It happens. Look up how kale got popular.

      >protein powder
      why is that even necessary

        Anonymous

It's not necessary for the actual recipe (in that you can leave it out or replace it with some other flavouring), but it's an easy way to add protein to hit your goals and it leaves you fuller so you don't need to eat as much during the rest of the day.

Fiber is pointless and causes IBS.
