What the FRICK can I make in an air fryer that I couldn't just make in my oven?

(and yes, I did google it and ask my friends but they all just said they make chicken and fish tendies in theirs).

probably nothing, it just reheats leftovers and frozen foods better in my opinion. it's also easier for regular stuff if you're tired or lazy, you just throw shit in. if you don't care about these things then it's not for you

I reheat my chinese takeaway leftovers in my microwave. Would the airfryer do it better?

Doubt your microwave would fit into the airfryer.

i don't know, that's a really general question. any sort of fried rice? no, that's moronic. something like general tso's? yeah, microwaves are shit, it will make you want to throw your microwave out.

It's effectively just a faster oven. Takes less time to cook and saves preheating. Makes things crispier so more suitable for some foods more than others

Literally everything you can fit in it will come out better compared to an oven.

A modern oven with convection can do everything an air fryer can

An "air fryer" can have more convection as long as you don't overload it. Or at least more than cheap convection ovens. And most people just have normal ovens. You can get good results with a <$100 air frying that you would otherwise need to spend $500+. But they can only really handle like 1 meal, even cooking for two starts to overload it.

you're looking at it wrong. this is not a new device that unlocks a new form of cooking, it is a side-grade to convection ovens. it heats up faster and provides air circulation (something not everyone has in their oven), plus it allows you to have two things cooking "in the oven" at the same time without having to frick around with temps and times. that's it.

Chicken tendies in 20 minutes. Oven would need about 10 minutes to heat up + 20 minutes of cook time, 30 total.
I think convection toaster oven would be more versatile since there you can turn off the fan and overall it is more reasonable size.

Nothing much, but the air fryer uses a lot less energy than a huge oven, and the forced-air cooking makes things crisp up faster.

As other anons have said, there is no recipe you can't do in a convection oven. But if you don't have convection it will cook stuff like oven roasted potatoes better, and will do it faster either way.

I have a double barrelled air fryer, and I like two do my vegetables + side in it while my main cooks off in the oven. I use it two or three times a week and the ability to bake at three temperatures simultaneously(one per basket, plus oven) means that I can do stuff like have an apple galette baking off in the oven while I cook dinner in the air fryer. I definitely find it worth it for that. Yesterday I did stuffed pork loin in the oven, then oven roasted potatoes and crispy broccoli in the air fryer.

Also king for leftovers. I work in catering as my day job; I take home all sorts of food that can't be processed down for soup or reused. Air fryer does wonders with it.

The air fryer is probably easier to clean. So use it if you don't need to cook as much stuff.

These are for broke college kids or apartment cucks in Chinese commie blocks who aren't allowed an oven. No idea why they caught on as some epic new kitchen device to add to the pile of crap. You do have an oven right?

Anything that's been previously fried tastes better reheated in an air fryer. It's a poor person's cooking gimmick. I was a chef for 12 years. It's good for tater tots, nuggets and reheated goy slop. That's all.

The advantage of the air fryer is it is MUCH smaller. Meaning no preheat time is required. Mine is part of my microwave. Super easy to slap the tray in, push in AIR FRY, and boom. Crispy fries. Crispy egg rolls. Crispy tendies.

It's also great when you need your oven for something else. You can have sides in the air fryer going while the oven is baking the main. Boom - fish and chips, all hot and ready at the SAME time. The oven + air fryer combo basically lets you BTFO all fast food joints. Crispy fries hot and ready next to whatever main you want next to it: tendies, fish, shrimp, etc.

Also, my oven doesn't have a circulator in it. It just is convection only. So I'm shit out of luck when it comes to "air frying" in the oven. Fries literally are greasy mush from the oven. But fries out of the air fryer? Crisp and perfect.

    Also, great for roasting veggies.
