Those ones are actually good. I'm almost 40 and never eat them, because I associate them with the ones I had as a kid and you person, but there are a few I've had in recent years that were actually good, so I suspect they've greatly improved. Still likely horrible for you, and always overpriced. I can't remember what I had, but it came in a bowl lol

Cafe Steamers are mostly great. But, the one you posted is a bad example of the brand.
        Picrel is top quality.
Mexican Street Corn is also good.

        >Picrel is too sweet though.
        exactly

        >280
isn't the average healthy adult supposed to consume 1500-2000 calories a day depending on their size?
if you're having 280 calories a meal how will that add up?

        >if you're having 280 calories a meal how will that add up?
this. it's not enough calories. and it's too expensive to get all your calories from frozen meals.
I like to make noodles/rice to have on the side for extra calories

The key to the sweet asian dishes, which they all are, is to add red pepper flakes and a bit of louisiana hot sauce for acidity, balances out how sweet they are

You have to be like and sale-max. Are you eating more for convenience or health? If convenience it’s hard to beat the value of a family size lasagna.

Most tv dinners actually have appropiate portion sizes for an average sized human. Everyone Ive met that says this is inevitably a fatass. As a former fatass myself, I remember thinking the same.

390 times three meals is near 1,200 plus some snacks or calorie-laden drinks will get you there. besides it says healthy which we know really means diet so it makes since for it to be somewhat under

This. Get this and the other steamer ones but this is the best. But at like $3.79 a piece a little pricey for 280 calories.

If you go to Smiths/Kroger when these are part of their buy 5 and save $5 weekly group you can still get the for $2.49 each which is right where they were priced pre-hoax virus

they're shit. most of them taste crap, and they're full of filler vegetables and rice with a spoonful of meat, so they're not filling.
I had to eat these almost exclusively for 6 months due to a kitchen remodel that went sideways.
You are far far better off for taste just buying an air fryer and using that instead.

      >panini

      I'll never get frozen sandwiches.
These look like sth that with little less work and time easily could make yourself a lot cheaper and faster. Fry some chicken in a pan, add some bacon and bread, slice a tomato, turn over bread, add chicken, bacon and cheese and tomato to bread, add sauce and assemble sanwich, turn off stove and use remaining heat to fry the bread from both sides until cheese melts.
Total work maybe 5 mins, total time until roasted and celicious maybe 10 mins, that's less than it would take to bake that in the oven, because microwave with bread stuff is of the DEVIL!

I got some frozen sliders in the freezer for snack purposes. But they are burgs and fried food, so a little difficult to whip up on the fly. The slider rolls aren't that bad out of the nuker. I did try the little hot pocket sandwiches hot, they actually weren't all that bad bread-wise. Meat was nonexistent though.

I agree that any sandwich made of cold cuts should NEVER be bought from the store, frozen, or from fast food. They are the easiest thing to prepare as a cook. All the ingredients are easily available, you just slap em together and boom, sandwich that beats all commercial options done. Wrap if using loaf-style bread. Cold cut sandos can be made in advance for lunch and dinner, so there is no excuse.

I excuse hot sandwiches, because that requires a stove and some actual cooking skill, and isn't just a "slap it together" operation. Plus if you want a hot sandwich for lunch with no stove, you can't just make it in the morning. So paying a dude to make you one is fine.

So the HS brand is actually pretty good, but they are low calorie (by design), so you will be hungry later. Can't speak to if they help with weight loss.

Marie C. has some decent pot pies. Gotta be careful not to burn them, but they have a good filling. I think there are some good frozen pies too.

Hungry Man is bad slop, but a decent amount of bad slop.

Banquet is a unique set of garbage slop. Potato that isn't potato flavored. Brownies that taste like chems. Dry as frick corn. And meat patties that taste worse than McDiks. If you get these, add butter to the taters and corn, it helps.

Stouffers are ok. It's edible pasta with meat flavor. Better than canned, but not better than real.

The voila bags are overpriced for what they are. Basically just frozen veg in a bag really.

There were some pasta bags that were decent, BUT you had to pan fry them.

The gyro kits are banging though.

Chinese food in the freezer aisle is usually terrible. Just do takeout, it will be lightyears better.

I have not tried the Devour and other niche brands that popped recently. Like Gordon's. Same with the online order ones like Factor.

And as always, is the correct answer here on Culinaly.

Those are like $3-4. Theres no way you'd make them for less unless you bought in bulk and then you'd have to create a whole week+ meal plan to use it all before it went bad.

ive never seen a frozen meal under $9
the only ones cheaper are only cheap because they're 1/3rd the size, intended as a side-dish not as a whole meal
        >cant do it cheaper
meat and 3veg is literally cheap as frick, guaranteed meal under $2 unless you're actually moronic.

I think Michel Angelos eggplant parm is decent. Add a loaf of french bread, slice it open, garlic toast it, broil on some provolone, and some thick eggplant and it's top tier. Bagged salad and it's a nice dinner fast. Their chicken piccata ziti is alright too and has a nice cheese crust.

Marie Calendars larger pot pies, esp the chicken and corn is good, esp if you oven bake it for the best crust.
Evol/Love organic has frozen mixes for skillet cooking, such as the butternut-kale sauced ravioli. There's another skillet with goat cheese. Any store brand frozen cheese ravioli is decent, and some of the fresh sauces are fresh tasting, like the vodka sauce.

There are some okay-ish frozen pork pot stickers, if you pan fry them, then steam them lid on, pretty good texture. Add a bag of steamed brown rice or green giant wild rice n/veggies you can hit with some tamari, right into the same pan. Steam some edamame for an appetizer and open a can of Asahi Super Dry.

Sometimes I nuke the stouffers frozen spinach souffle and sear up some ribeyes or ny strips for a fast dinner. Add some baby reds or yukons.
