Konnichiwa, dude!

I tried making chicken adobo for the first time the other day and it was absolute kino. What are some other essential Filipino foods?

It’s called abobo. Adobo is a mispronunciation. Like calling pho “foe”.

Papaitan has come of the most disgusting ingredients in it (being bile-based soup) but oh my good god, I had it at a pub in Manila by my hostel, and it was one of the most delicious soups I've ever had. Just fricking outstanding stuff.

For something a bit less...strange, lechon. Bonus points if it's made with suckling pig.

Real Pandesal bread from the Phillipines is amazing. All the knockoff Pandesal I've had in the U.S. have tasted horrible. Last time I had an American knockoff of it, it legitimately tasted like plastic.

Halo Halo and Ube are great as well.

Yeah, the Filipino bakeries I went to here in Canada trying to find pandesal are fricking trash compared to the ones I had back in Philippines on vacation. Had a few that were just sickeningly sweet.

Ever have a breakfast sandwich with a GOOD one? Out of this world.

Sorry for the late reply; haven't checked this thread in awhile.
        >Ever have a breakfast sandwich with a GOOD one? Out of this world.
Unfortunately I have not, however I have ate pandesal with spam for breakfast and it's godly. Ahhh, I miss waking up in the morning on vacation at the Phillipines and having fresh pandesal every morning. It's seriously the best tasting bread I've ever had.

For me it was getting the bananas at the market in the morning and then watching all the fishing boats take off. It's fricking insane that they still have the gros michel bananas there.

God, if I didn't have so many attachments here, I'd sell everything, move to Coron, Palawan permanently and open up a restaurant.
