Lard Sugar Cookies

Had a brick of leftover lard, forgot to preheat the oven and had to cool the dough down in the fridge. When eaten they’re like a more chewy and wet scone. Rating this a 5.5/10 since they’re not too flavourful and they’re just OK. Are there any viable alternatives for brown sugar since I just used a small amount of unpasteurized honey and white sugar to make the lard sugar mixture.

Isn’t the normal sub for brown sugar some granulated sugar with molasses?

Also agree they look pretty cakey, was the lard creamed?

I tried dissolving honey and sugar in water to make a syrup, but i fricked up and burnt a little bit of it. Eventually I managed to get a syrup mixture and blended it with the egg until it seemed reasonably mixed, then I incorporated the flour, realized I forgot to preheat the oven, finished mixing but in replacement of baking powder used the juice of one whole lemon (they were getting old) and accidentally reacted the baking soda and lemon together

This post is how people can tell you've never had a job. Were you high at the time, at least?

man nobody is hiring people with no experience. I’m not doing two twelve hour back to back shifts on the weekend at some shitty fast food place that requires you pay 200+ in training for restaurant services and food safety.

Literally all jobs are shit, especially the minimum wage ones and people keep saying “just get a job durrr” as if I don’t have to pay some excessive amount of cash for my own training and require a drivers license which is even more cash in training.

So you don't want to work food service? Cool, you should get a real job instead anyway. Do something with your life besides making failure cookies.

What do you think baking soda + lemon juice does?

You might as well just film your cooking and make videos showing how bad you are

Cookies typically don't have much moisture added. That's why yours came out chewy and more like scones. It should just be the tiny bit of water in butter and sometimes egg. If you use enough to make a syrup it lets too much gluten form and you might as well make a cake.

You really made some odd looking cookies, and I dont think it's because you used lard.

Im guessing the was something missing maybe in the cookie dough
