He's right, though. "Shrinkflation" isn't something a company would ever think to do if not for the fact that it draws the consumer's attention away from inflation, which reflects poorly on a political administration whose main accomplishments have been massive handouts to Starbucks baristas who can't pay their student loans, and foreign countries who would be better off negotiating for peace.

I visit taco bell around 4 times a month because I'm lazy and work next to one, the prices are high. "I can afford it" does not mean they are not high prices. I can afford wasting money on a nice shirt, it doesn't mean it is cheap just because it is not much money for me. Something being expensive is not a subjective thing. A burrito that was only (and only justifiable at) $.99 5 years ago now costing over $3 is not inexpensive given cheap or expensive is based on a product's value (not your income).

I'm in a smaller town, it's 3 bucks here for whatever reason and the potato taco here is also about 25 cents more than most places too. It sucks, I'd think small towns would get the better prices but for things like this it seems best to be in mid-sized cities.

Yeah, since mcdoubles and mcchickens got over $1.50 I only eat at mcdonalds maybe 2-3 times a year for that gross nostalgia. Kinda true for most fast food; I get upset paying $12 for something I could've made better at home for $6. Thats true for all restaurants though; if I get a burrito bowl from a local place for $15, it better really good slow cooked meat, packed full of rice n beans, fresh lettuce, etc. When its a shitty little bowl of tough meat and I'm still hungry later, I just don't go back.

That all being said, I do have a couple fast food apps and gas station apps for free or heavily discounted things. No I'm not going to pay $14 for the latest promo burger at whataburger when its just a double cheeseburger with fried onions on it. But when its on app promo for $7, sure. I'm not going to go out and buy an 8 pack of buns, a pound of beef, head of lettuce, an onion, bacon, and other stuff I may not even have.

They are trying to figure out if the people paying $12 for a big mac at lower volume are worth reducing at the cost of lower cost product at higher volume. It really makes little sense to have to staff more people to sell more burgers when you can sell less burgers at higher prices and keep store staffing low. So the math gets complicated.

Maybe they could use it like a loss leader, the way supermarkets sell cheap cooked/fried chickens, except in this case they make the $5 meal contain the smallest possible ham/cheeseburger possible, and the small fries and small drink, like a happy meal (but not quite that small). It's probably not a terrible deal if you are absolutely starving, but by keeping it small (maybe make it impossible to upgrade to medium/large/supersize meals), they will encourage repeat customers to upgrade to the larger meals. And (protip) they can always refill their soda cup a bunch of times if they are absolutely desperate for calories.

For me, it's the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich. I even ask for extra McChicken sauce packets and the staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.

One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly McDonald's worker laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".

Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald's restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs.

I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it's delicious! What a great restaurant.

I know for sure it's gonna be tiny as frick, tinier than the small (formerly big) mac kind of small. Goddamn I miss eating fast food slop on the regular but the prices are so fricked now, I'm actually being smart and buying large bags of potatoes and rice to last me weeks. This fricked up economy killed my craving for the goyslop which is a good thing I guess, but I'm not really happy.

Second, frick you mchomosexual, your pricing model is designed to screw your costumer. Hashbrowns are $2.50, and as seen in pic related, a 5lb bag of potatoes is $3.50. That's not inflation, it's outright greed. I go out of my way to help the younger people starting at my job learn to cook to screw israelites like you

Is the economy just gonna be permanent fricked or is this just some bullshit that all the corporations are doing to suck our dicks dry because of the covid, bird flu, and the shit presidency?
