Mold

>have package with noodles in the cupboard (dried cheese filling)
>take them out of cupboard
>spot a giant circular area of green in the transparent package
>wtf it's fricking mold
>empty package in trash
>green cloud rises
>spores probably propagating through my entire flat
How fricked am I?

The package was already opened weeks or months ago because I only take a little of them every time. That's why I didn't just throw it away unopened.

Green mold is usually fine but you need to start storing your food properly, anon. If you open a package it cannot just go back into the pantry because it will start expiring quickly.

This stuff is completely dry and the expiry date is usually 1 year ahead when you buy it new. I did not expect it to go bad so quickly and to grow so much mold. It was stupid.

Why would you dump the contents of the package instead of just throwing the whole thing in the trash? Dumbass.

Different categories of waste, but I didn't really have a real reason to do it, I did it automatically without thinking. It was stupid.

Once you open a packet, you need to move the food into an airtight container to store the leftovers. Even for dried, shelf stable items.

Even rice. EVERY food item should be stored in an airtight container once the packet is opened.

No, and anyone who uses it is putting their rice in harm's way for insect infestation and other environmental hazards.

that's what you sound like right now. a tiny bit of mold that's been growing for like a day isn't going to do anything. don't be moronic and eat a slice of bread that's turned black and you'll be fine.

And you're fricking moronic. I never said I feared, I'm the one trying to prevent waste from unnecessary spoilage. Don't take my advice, that's fine. It's your money, after all.

Just keep the place clean and dry. Mold generally needs some dampness for its spores to propogate. Hit the place with a little bleach and hot water.
