they took that out of rotation some time ago last i checked

Every reviewers I have seen cream their pants with the french MRE

french use a lot of quality canned stuff, however their MRE equivalents way WAY more than american ones and have way less shelf life
two totally different schools of thought on mre design going on

They have a shelf life of about 6 years. Why would you need more ? Do you expect soldiers to be on the field longer than that ?

As for the weight, it's not really much compared to other issued equipment

It's not so much about rations lasting in the field as it is being able to stockpile them. If your rations last for 5 years, you'll have 5 years worth of production saved up when a war starts. If they last for 30 years, you'll have 30 years worth of production. Having more rations stockpiled helps prevent shortages.

The French MREs seem to use a lot of consumer packaged goods so presumably they could just buy those up in a crisis and boost their production overnight.

You could do the same with any rations in a pinch, so long as bureaucracy wasn't retarded. We know they are, though, and don't do anything about it, so we retards get what we want in the end. Realistically, though, if we had to start shipping normal consumer goods to the front for some reason, we would, at least I hope. That's pretty much the whole reason Chef Boyardee exists.

              >oey vey goyiim in a crisis you can just spend more money to buy from the civilian sector, surely a long global war wouldnt effect them at all

and this is why your country is overran by muslims armed with nothing but toyota trucks and alibaba hang gliders you short-term minded rat.

Basically the veggie ones are usually shit tier. They used to have decent sides to combat the shitty main, but now they 100% suck. The mexican ones are also pretty shit too.

The cold weather ones are amazing though, they are essentially larger mountain house meals. The seafood chowder one is my favorite. No clue why that one isn't public, it's fucking spot on.

Ah the vomlet. Always dodged the bullet for that one. I've had the 4 fingers of death, they weren't that bad, just kinda demoralizing for a field meal.

Every reviewers I have seen cream their pants with the french MRE

The online pants creaming for Russian, Canadian and French MREs need to be taken with a grain of salt. I fell for it and bought a few foreign MREs myself. I will say having tea in a ration is fantastic though, Russia/UK has that shit 100% right. But all those pates are fucking disgusting, and the crackers for some are downright deadly. US MRE crackers are still top tier, even if broken. The jams in the russian & french ones is pretty gud though, MRE jam/jelly is always subpar smuckers shit compared to what it could be. The mains are forgettable too, sort of on par with the meh-good US MRE meals. That being said, it's not like I've eaten all the meals available, I'm sure some are bangers and some are dregs, just like US MREs are.

Of course the US MRE spoon reigns supreme above all.

The Australian MRE spoon is unbeatable, even if you delude yourself into thinking another spoon is better, FRED is right around the corner waiting to btfo you

Seems most reviewers think the Aussie and NZ CR1M rations are the best, especially newer menus. And the worst is clearly China PLA rations.

Israeli rations seem to be pretty grim. One of the IDF rations Steve reviewed, it was like 6 cans of tuna, some chicken pate, and a huge pile of crackers. No wonder they're so angry all the time.

That's really all you need when camping in your backyard. (Or rather, someone else's backyard.)

Here are the best items I have had in a MRE:
    1. The mocha bar - perfection in candy bar form.
    2. Seafood chowder - happiness in a bowl
    3. Pound Cake - moral booster from heaven
    4. Beef stew - comfort food right there
    5. Chicken noodle - basically rotisserie style noodle soup.
    6. Foreign MRE jams - they are just nice

    Here are moral sappers:
    1. Crushed candy that is a melted brick, or any expired candy for the foreign ones
    2. Instant ramen - just feels like a kick in the nuts to get this.
    3. Veggie meals - nothing good comes in these
    4. Rock hard energy bars
    5. Cheese spreads

Thanks guys, so wonderful you replied and thanks for all your replies.
However I must clarify: I only meant American MREs, I have a line and I can easily get them so I wanted some advice on the best ones.
I can't get Australian or chink MREs.

The worst one we had while I was in was Spinach Fettucine Alfredo. Overall they are fine for what they are, the hate comes from when you are eating them and nothing else for weeks on end (typically without heating them the majority of the time).
Personally after a week or so I pretty much couldn’t touch any of the tomato sauce menus, but they were easy to trade.

they're fine for what they are. they make good camping meals too just drink lots of water or your turds will be rocks. chili mac is good. most of the meat ones are at least decent. rice and beans are just meh. For 6 to 14 bucks per meal cheap shit like rice and beans is disappointing. just buy ramen and walmart instant rice packs, same taste and calories and 75% less cost
