My boomer dad uses picrel to cook fried rice (flied lice as he likes to call it). Are there any healthier alternatives that don't have a low smoke point?

Smoke point isn’t a meme you fricking moron at the temperatures you stir fry at it breaks down and stops being a healthier option, if you’re gonna start yet another thread about oils at least try to understand what you’re talking about.

your dad should not add oil to anything if he can help it
he certainly should not be frying anything.
he should eat rice cooked in water and lightly seasoned with no oil at all.

That was the answer at a pub quiz some years ago. The question was "what mathematical constant sounds like fruit?"

Use bacon fat if you absolutely need a high te.p oil use peanut. Bacon fat will upgrade the fried rice, also making the rice with chicken stock.

Why is canola oil worse than say sesame oil, peanut oil, and the like?

      Anonymous

It's not that the seeds themselves are necessarily harmful. Petroleum-based solvents used in their processing are very bad for you. This is the problem with seed oils. Sesame seeds and peanuts are pretty easy to extract fats from. Same with avocados and coconuts.

Industrial machinery is used here, but industrial chemicals are not.

Because its the root cause for the cardiovascular problems. It is what kills you, gives you cancer, diabetes, stroke and heartattacks.
But its sunk cost fallacy and we can't admit it after 120 years of moronic made up science (ancel keys etc. lmao) and lying to the public and killing/poisoning millions of people.
Its like statins, they are 100% poison so scientists are paid to make up studies where they can be framed positively.

Yeah but just leave your dad alone and let him cook how he likes, don't bug him about his health unless he's obese or diabetic or something

Just use lard or tallow it's tastier and if you're stirring fast enough it won't burn
