I stopped eating these for like, 10 years
I just ate them so often I got tired of all the flavors
Then we moved and I got some for the office like back in the day and I think they all taste a little different
      Try some Nissin Raoh, it's a game-changer

        >Try some Nissin Raoh, it's a game-changer
You bring a tear to my eye, you sophisticated cultured-ass brotha from anotha motha. WHY did our local Costco stop selling this, in favor of yet another variety of Korean kimslop from those dollar-store asians? (You know the reason but it still hurts.)

It's like a special little treat, just for me
All of the flavors are good, it's impossible to have a favorite
Whether I dress it up like your pic, or have it straight, pure
I don't know why they seem to fly under the radar
If I had to guess, it's because we don't want other people to know
          They're our ramen, OUR ramen.

      This.
I have Shrimp as a fallback, but you could dose a bowl of popcorn with Oriental flavor-packet and it was like nothing else.
      The soup wasn't bad either.
Funny thing, I wasn't aware most people didn't add vegetables or drop in whole eggs at the height of boil--just ate 'em noodles and broth...Serving suggestion be damned.
      Weird, huh?

They're usually $1 at Kroger, $0.90 at Aldi, and sometimes $0.80 at Winco. I saw Nissin chow mein for $0.88 at Walmart. But yeah, they are a bit much for noodles.

I usually disregard things FAT GIRLS say, but DAMN!! She was right...
Add 2 slices right after they come out of the 4 mins., wait a minute or 2, then stir.
I had NO IDEA how good it could be.
SUcks that they switched over to the single packet instead of the 2 packets from before.

Grocery Outlet carries a varying selection of ramen at a discount as long as you don’t mind it being close to expiration (props to Grocery Outlet anon that mentioned it before), got some Nissan raoh tonkatsu there once for cheap.

The 6 packs sometimes go on sale for like $1.40 near me. That's like 24¢ per packet. They're more economical than the large packs and have shrimp and oriental flavors too.

Say! Anyone know the name of the sweet potato thread noodles with the Wabibito looking out the window, (back to you,) in the old style ramen house?

Why cook in the microwave when it's much nicer cooked in a pot and it only takes 2 minutes longer?

  11. 3 weeks ago

    >microwave
    only lessers use these.
get a sauce pot, add 2 cups of water and the seasoning packet, bring to a boil, place brick in water, wait 3 mins., drain, eat.
if you wanna spruce it up, chop celery and onion to add to the water before boiling.

Any suggestions to spruce this up a bit? I like that flavor packet well enough, but I'm not familiar with that profile and have no idea what to add beyond the basic ramen hack stuff: egg, scallion, bean sprout etc
I keep basic ingredients on hand you'd find in a typical east asian kitchen, just not accustomed to SEA flavors like Thai/Malay

It's lunchtime, so here's what I went with
      >scallions
      >egg
      >MOTHAFRICKIN DEENZ
      >a sheet of nori
      >kimchi
      >sesame seeds
      >green tea with honey for beverage

was good, will pick up some dried mushrooms. Ive always been afraid of drinking the leftover 'broth' because sodium bomb. Any of you yolo anons, am I missing out flavorwise by dumping the soup?

That sums up "Japanese" food: all presentation but you're left hungry at the end. Any old pan of sloppa here in the west obliterates that shit. Give me rice and a cheap can of chilli over that shit.

              >idk about you but ooks are tertiary to taste and price

I'm imagining the taste looking at the broth, which looks like the seasoning packet that came with it, rather modding it with grated ginger, garlic, sesame oil and broth. hell, throw in some tahini, doubanjian, or even oat milk to make it look like you tried

                Anonymous

                >Grated ginger, garlic
For instance noodles? Way too much effort, man. I have ginger and garlic powder for that.
                >sesame oil
In most cases I do this for ichiban or nissin ramen. The Mama pa lo packet comes with a small thing of duck flavored fat, and I added deenz so sesame oil would have made it actual garbage juice level greasy.
                >broth
wasting it on instant noodles instead of a proper meal like roast or stew
                >tahini
                tasteless islam slop
                >doubanjian
Same issue as abovesrsame oil. I used sambal. at least you didn't say gochujang
                >oat milk
and I'm somehow the gay homosexual? lol asians don't typically do creamy stuff besides the pajeet adjacent ones
