        ?????

I thought the popcorn button made a "perfect" bag of popcorn until I started doing it manually.
If you have more than 5 or so unpopped kernals in the bottom of the bag, you arent doing it right.

The popcorn button leaves like 30 or more.

It depends on your kernels, they can be produced differently to where you get more or less popped correlated to how the crunch is. Manufacturers have to balance this

Not watching, but thats a fricking stupid video then.
I am Culinaly and have installed 3 new undercounter microwaves over the last like 5 months (mine, brothers, grandmothers)

A GE Profile, a Kitchenaid, and an LG.
Literally all 3 have a steam sensor in them. Idk about the other two, but my old microwave had it aswell.

The steam function for popcorn doesnt even work that well seeing how with shrinkflation you have random size popcorn bags now. It senses steam sure, but then it triggers a hardcoded timer after than anyways. Seems to undercook bags like crazy.

Your average person who actually uses a microwave is lazy and therefore doesn't spend the money on a decent unit. Your sample is biased because it's based on people who both get a microwave that needs to be installed, and have the money to have someone do it.
I wouldn't be surprised if they only have one because they feel a kitchen needs one for some reason.

      TLDR of this video:
The original popcorn button had a sensor to perfectly stop cooking the popcorn when a certain amount of steam came out.

Then shitty microwaves took out that sensor to save money, they just have a guesstimated timer and they frick it up 95% of the time.

Because the popcorn company doesn't know whether or not your microwave has the sensor or is a shitty one, they just tell you not to use it to be safe.

How much should one spend on a microwave?

Based Toddposter. My advice is max $200 from Costco, which includes that sweet return policy since everything is now Chinese shit anyway.

Here's a life tip for you which I discovered hating the same thing:
Get the whole automatically transcribed text script from the video, google or fiddle with the settings to get it right.
Paste the whole damn thing into an AI chatbot and ask it to summarize or point out the main points etc tweak question as necessary.
          Profit.

popcorn button just sets the ideal time for certain bag sizes. modern popcorn bags are no longer those sizes, so now they are inaccurate. You got lucky that they still mesh.

    >Use popcorn button
    >Run it for another 25 seconds at the end
    >Perfect popcorn, like 5 unpopped corns left at the end

    >Do it the old fashioned way
    >There's literally smoke from burning popcorn coming out of the bag and the popping hasn't slowed
    >Stop the microwave, half the popcorn is burnt and there's not even enough of it popped to fully inflate the bag

I'm guessing the popcorn setting on my microwave does something with adjusting power levels, but I never bothered to figure it out. I just pop it for a little longer after the popcorn setting and get perfect popcorn.
