Hello,
So in years past I ate lots of sandwiches. Then I started getting better bread with less sugar from Costco. Then I started getting my bread from a bakery and having them slice it as thin as they can. I then freeze that and toast to make the thin cuts more rigid.
What can I do to finally kick this poison food once and for all? Where do I go from here? Tortillas aren't much better. Lettuce wraps are ok in some cases but I don't always have fresh lettuce since I go into town shopping maybe monthly. Any thoughts on how I can move away from thin bread I'd really appreciate. TIA!
I am sure somebody knows of some breakthrough products or alternatives.
What about that edible plastic wrap you find in oriental candies scaled up?
Bread isn't all that bad, just eat other things as well.
There's a reason why the bible uses bread as the symbol for spiritual nourishment. Bread is love, bread is life. Just do as this anon has said as well
It's pretty unhealthy and cheap peon food though. Sure, it's nourishing. Save it for prison food. It has its place, but it's also 2022 and we now know better. So lets talk good alternatives. It's kinda rude or trolling kinda to come into a thread where I want suggestions of ways to get away from bread and people say... "just eat bread". You know?
For millennia, both peasants and emperors have eaten bread alike. Are you better than an emperor?
>So lets talk good alternatives.
There are none. That's the point.
Go eat your lettuce wraps, sissy.
If you had read, I already mentioned lettuce wraps.
Just be a man and eat a pile of meat every day
>sissy
Where?
People are saying it because it's true. There's nothing wrong with bread. Just don't eat a ton of it. One sandwich a day is perfectly healthy. Just don't overload the rest of your diet with starchy stuff and you're good.
Just because its a product of a commodity food (wheat), doesnt mean its not amazing. There's nothing cozier than walking into a home that smells of fresh baked bread, especially in the winter with a wood stove going.
Yeah but just eat the bread pussy homie
bread isn't poison anon
I made a wonderful loaf of sesame bread today. I added about 1/4 cup of sesame seeds and 3 TBSP of toasted sesame oil to a french bread recipe in my bread machine and, smeared with a little Kerrygold butter, is sex in my motherfricking mouth.
>french bread recipe
any anons have a good French bread recipe? bread machine or oven, I suppose
Don't do it anon. It creates napalm.
Wait *mustard gas
Too late. I’m going with
>water
>flour
>yeast
>salt
>sesame oil
>top with sesame seeds
Actually, I added the seeds in with the flour so there are tiny little flavor bombs spread throughout the loaf.
Did you use bread flour?
Of course! What other kind of flour would you use to make french bread?
Any kind of fortified flour is fine
my first instinct would be bread flour but I know some swear by all-purpose
last question: were you substituting another oil (like olive) for sesame or was it additional oil?
Just eat whatever it is you're putting in your sandwiches on a plate without bread? I don't understand the issue.
Since you are american you probably need to bake your own bread if you don't want sugar and poison. start here
Good info. Will look into it.
That bread looks gross
>~~*Meyer*~~
>Nordic kitchen
Try again
Make little deli roll ups and eat it with a toothpick.
low quality bait
Just stop eating bread, anon. You do have willpower, don't you?
I am weening myself off of it. I am almost there, I just need sonething better than lettuce to hold together sandwiches. Mostly.
While the word 'sandwich' remains in your vocabulary, you'll keep failing. You been approaching this all wrong and you're never gonna make it.
We need someone to create a semi transparent yet slightly rigid kind of calorieless plasti-wrap to replace bread.
Have you ever put the contents of a sandwich in a ziplock without bread? It's a mess.
Oh, now I understand. You're poor trash. Who else would be eating with their hands? Good look, buddy. Keep eating those sandwiches.
Yeah, I am sure you bring an oven, nice cutlery, pop up table and tablecloth out to the jobsite. Rofl you look like such a tool.
so you want the sandwich but without the bread. basically a sallad. all you need is a lunchbox and a fork
What kind of dainty homosexual are you bringing a fricking salad to a jobsite
I am not. That's what some homosexual reccomended.
No, that's what you're suggesting by eliminating bread from a sandwich homosexual
No u.
>jobsite
Yep you're poor
... Rice paper?
I guess that is what it is. It melts in your mouth sorta. If you scale it up and reduce sugars it would be cool.
This. Instead of thinking in terms of sandwich, think in terms of what fills your favorite sandwiches. Like ham sandwiches? Buy a whole ham, slice it up, have some cheese on the side. Like roast beef sandwiches? Literally just eat roast beef and learn how to make a decent gravy to go with it. Soon enough you'll realize the bread adds absolutely fricking nothing and was just there as filler, unless you were eating freshly baked homemade or bakery bread with your sandwiches (you weren't). And even then, good bread is best enjoyed on its own or with some good butter, you don't want all the flavors of a sandwich overpowering it.
use slices of cheese
Lettuce is just as good as anything else.
Also
.
Thank you, I understand, but lettuce doesn't freeze well and spoils quickly. As I said in my original post, I can't get to a grocery as often as others. Well, I could... It would just be a nuisance going so often for just a few fresh things. It's also a 12 minute plus the flight in the winter or a beating hour for my truck.
Ricepaper
Seaweed
Stuff it in a hollowed out baked potato
portabella mushrooms
wrap it in butcher twine tightly and remove as you eat
You could have a nice day, that's pretty effective and it has the added benefit of reducing the number of threads like this in the future.
>CARBS BAD
God I am looking forward to when this wank is debunked in 8 years and I don't have to hear morons shouting it literally every time food is mentioned in conversation.
I wouldn't say carbs are bad inherently but the ketogenic diet is the most studied diet in history so I doubt that the diet will be debunked seeing as already there exists no empirical evidence to suggest it isn't healthy to remove carbs entirely. There are no essential carbohydrates required to live there are required proteins and fats.
Inb4 it raises cholesterol there isn't any empirical evidence to suggest that raising cholesterol is healthy. However there is evidence that having low cholesterol increases mortality.
I meant there isnt evidence showing raising cholesterol is unhealthy. I apologize you may now disregard my argument. I Clearly am illiterate
>seeing as already there exists no empirical evidence to suggest it isn't healthy to remove carbs entirely.
But that's false. There are plenty of documented negative associations with no carb intake and especially a lot of negative associations with the keto diet over a long period of time, particularly heart disease. Not to mention if anyone ever does stop keto they tend to balloon back up almost instantly. No, you won't die from not eating carbs, but you will feel like shit and experience all sorts of negative symptoms.
Keto is already debunked. It's useful in a very limited scope for short term fat burning and weight loss. So in a short term cut(one month), you'll see good results. It's not a healthy diet to be on long term. Most doctors and health professionals don't recommend it as a permanent diet.
keto is overated for fat loss/maintenance. it works for many because they don't get currentyear sugar loads but if you're a weak-willed-homosexual you'll still get fat eating too much fat
oopsie bread/cloud bread is pretty good. Cauliflower bread can be okay for savory applications.
Look up chaffles. You'll encounter some ketogaygertry but you can persevere. Alternatively eat more stews instead. Put those lil pearl onions in it whole. Mmm, onions.
The first good reccomendation. Thanks.
proso millet, buckwheat and quinoa after pressure cooking/some other high intensity stuff are alright. No lectins, no gluten, most antinutrients present are destroyed.
you can make some waffles, crusts etc. out of some of that
Moving to bread/grains was a terrible mistake for humanity. It's going to be hard to move away now.
What part of bread do you consider bad? The wheat, yeast, oil (if present), or something else?
bread isn't poison.
Frick off Satan. It's 2022. We aren't falling for your shit anymore. I am a proud MAP.
My local bakery makes this spectacular dense wheat/seed bread and I go through about a loaf a week. I find it hard to believe that sort of bread is “bad” for you. But I am sure whites, baguettes, and the sour doughs can make you fat. Or maybe I’m just in denial
Let's discuss low sugar bread. How to make it work. Some is needed, but as much as they put in bread now is not.
Sourdough bread is fine. Simple industrial yeast bread is the poison.
I live next to one of the top rated local bakeries in the nation. They use top shelf ingredients, fully transparent ingredient list, and charge a premium for it. While I do think bread makes you fat and chubby in excess, do you anons put high-quality baker-made pumpernickel, rye, and seedy wheat breads in that cohort, too? Their pumpernickel especially is spectacular.
Just eat bread, dumbass
Substitute with fried chicken fillets
