nta but i worked in a place said to have some of the best steak tartare in london, and i don't get it
        >hey lets take some delicious raw beef and then absolutely drench it in worcestershire sauce, tabasco, capers, onions and sometimes even ketchup to absolutely obliterate the flavour and make it disgusting
its like oysters, except it's even worse cos at least the steak tastes good before you ruin it with bottom shelf condiments

fried oysters? great. fresh oysters picked a few hours earlier when you're on holiday at the seaside? acceptable. restaurant oysters slathered in tabasco pretending to be gourmet food? frick off

            >implying oysters are somehow superior to Mac and cheese because he thinks it's more mature
What's really great about Mac and cheese is not only the toppings and varieties of cheese you can add, but the wine pairing versatility. And boxed Mac and cheese with a bit of parmesan thrown on it pairs well with a pinot and a sauvignon blanc. Even some oaky chardonnay or cabernet. None of that pairs with oysters. Nothing pairs with oysters. You can try. Oh you can try some bubbly but it still isn't that great.

Oysters pair well just fine. Just gotta drink the alcohol first to enjoy 'em.

I eat raw animal protein every day, so I recognize that steak tartare is the safest of the raw meat dishes you can eat.
Provided, that you don't use grocery store ground beef, but your own cut minced manually.
It will be no different from eating a rare steak.

      >Provided, that you don't use grocery store ground beef, but your own cut minced manually.
In my country the ground beef at store is safe for everyone with a normal immune system. I'd trust it more than my own cut minced manually even though the risk with that would also be practically non-existent.

How are you supposed to eat the yolk on steak tartar? Do you take a little bit of yolk for every scoop? Do you break it up and stir it around the tartar? Do you just spread it over the top like butter on pancakes?

you do whatever you want fren. you can even just mix the thing a bit so that it's more even taste-wise.
i like adding a bit of tabasco with it
