Do you habe to bring the egg up to room temperature first?

This stops the cooking process of the rice to prevent overcooking and with the heat transfer cooks the egg to FDA standards

Yes. I tried with a cold egg and it was horrible. Apparently very few countries refrigerate their eggs.

When you produce chickens in such a density that, even with regular cleaning, the ammonia in their shit burns their feet, we figured it was a good idea to clean the our eggs, which, surprise surprise, removes the natural protection.

room temp egg, beaten with a touch of soy sauce, into piping hot rice. it gets absorbed into the rice with a bit of stirring. if the rice isn't hot enough and/or the egg is cold, it just sorts sits in it and you make soup.

Never tried that. I like to put an egg on top of the rice before cooking it and it always comes out fine. Good, cheap breakfast.

It needs salt. I know you guys are familiar with salt. A little ooh-mommy from the scallion and meat makes it feel more like a meal.

Alternately, add a little cream, sugar, and cinnamon and you have rice pudding.

Why do the Japanese pretend the egg is cooked from this? The Italians know they are eating raw egg when they put it on their pasta. I don't get it, is it pride?

      >weeb opinion = Japanese opinion
The reason is because only weebs have ever claimed "the heat of the egg cooks the rice." The Japanese consider it raw egg over rice. You realize most Japanese also hate weebs right?

Rice straight out of the cooker can transmit a lot of heat.
I think the egg is cooked it just doesn't turn into scrambled eggs. Its like how Gorden Ramsys baby shit texture scrambled eggs are technically cooked

It doesn't matter if it's cooked. It matters if it's safely edible and tastes good. Whether or not tamago kake gohan is cooked or not is irrelevant to the dish itself. Same as how it doesn't matter if sushi or steak tartare is "cooked" or not

It's more that there are some people who like to mix the egg up like when you prepare an omelette before putting it on the rice instead of just putting it on the rice directly.

I've done this a few times, as long as the rice is piping hot it turns out pretty good. I usually add either soy sauce when the egg finally cooks or black pepper before mixing.

The Japanese don't like cooking or making things in general.

One of the things they'll do is just reach into a body of water and whatever living thing they grab, they'll just eat alive or kill it and then just serve its raw flesh on some rice. Savages.
