Rib eye steak

This is the worst thing you could possibly consume healthwise: fatty red meat.
My Doctor told me so.

It is widely known that red meat gives you cancer and consuming fat makes you fat and increase the chances of cardiovascular disease.

Everything you consume in your lungs or stomach gives you cancer and cardiovascular disease. They used to just call it getting old.

        >red meat gives you cancer
at worst, it slightly increases your chances of developing a few particular types of cancer, like hundreds of other things.
but it has been classified in the 2A group, the *probably* carcinogenic one. That means they are not even completely sure because the evidence is limited.
Eating a lot of red meat when you're a lazy fatass is obviously bad, but eating it in moderation while having an ideal weight and an active lifestyle is absolutely fine, if not recommended.

The only real drawback is that rib eye is expensive.

      Anonymous

The realest real drawback is it’s best on charcoal charcoal isn’t cheap either you have to wait for it to heat up and the ribeye sears so quick the process of lighting the charcoal takes longer than grilling it and then you’re left with a bunch of leftover charcoal heat wasted because your steak is finished and the coals will burn another 45mins+

        No.

Why not? It's mechanically separated, heated, treated with chemicals, mixed, dried, pressed, and left to cure.

The average person can do that at home. You could mix heated milk with lemon juice and strain it and you have cheese. That's barely different from regular cooking. It's still a nutritious food. It's processed, but not "highly processed".

Highly processed food usually involves much more technical steps, and it produces food that's not very nutritious while tricking your brain into thinking it is.

Everything is processed. Even cooking food is processing it. Sometimes "processing" actually involves removing negatives things in the food. If something is bad for you, it's because there are harmful things in it, like seed oils or high fructose corn syrup.

Processed isn't the same as highly processed.

Using artificial flavors instead of real food. Refining and hydrogenating vegetable oil.

My GI doctor said bread. Some milled and salted grains are fine, but he meant what we today consider bread. Very bad for your intestines when you think about it.
You know when they dip their hot dog buns in water at the eating competitions because it just disintigreates and goes straight-down? Think of that just coating your intestines from doing it for a decade eating hamburgers and sub sandwiches.

Actually a better answer would be fiber, but water is never not a good thing. You could go the metamucil route for both, but it's really better to just eat a lot more vegetables with your meals cuz they have water in them too.

I am older. I have no plaque in my arteries or carotids, confirmed by ultrasound and unnecessary heart cath tests to go with the annual echo and ekg. They watch my heart thanks to past covid. Anyway, Doctor forced some recommended Lipitor on me, because of my age, not from facts. Bleh. All 4 of my grandparents lived into their 90s. Parents are still alive and no health problems other than arthritis.

I think any broad statement that eliminates any food group is nonsense. The right way to put it would be "a diet consisting of only fatty red meat" is not "balanced." Like eat some fish too sometimes. The no-no food type is like smoke and nitrite preserved sausages, ham, and bacon, and that is because of transit time in the gut with carcinogenic nitrites, and colon cancer risk. It is exactly the definition of "processed" food. But in the same breath, doctors will talk positively about a low carb high protein diet. Just get fitter, get your prescriptions, nod and go. Doctors are not known to be broad in their knowledge, but only their speciality. Logic is only taught in ethics training and computer science.

I remember my father, may he rest in peace, who in late age was on no medications at all, and who was of a usually healthy BMI, went in for his regular check-up. He had put on a very few, maybe 5 lbs, juuust enough to tip him over into the clinically overweight category. His clinically morbidly obese doctor, who was probably sucking down ten medications himself for hypertension/diabetes/gay AIDs said to my father, “Yeah, all looks good, but, you need to lose a few pounds. My father when he came home:
    >that pretentious fat fuck told me I need to lose a few pounds so now your mother is in panic mode and already putting me on a diet. that FAT FUCK like he knows anything. he should take his own advice JESUS KITTY CHRIST I FUCKING SWEAR
    I miss me dad.

    Keep eating meat.
