          >this is anomalous somehow
The average male life expectancy in the US is 76. That'd be a nearly -20% variance of actual to expected life expectancy. Pretty abnormal.
He also ate healthy (e.g. OP mentioning that quote where he advises others to avoid fast food in favor of putting together meals at home with whole foods) and he abstained from both alcohol and other recreational drugs.
I don't know that the meme flu vaccine killed him but I can say it isn't normal for someone like that to have a heart attack and die that young.
I know on Culinaly even after all these years we still have lots of young people among the user base and 61 sounds incredibly old when you're fresh out of high school, but it really isn't all that old.
You aren't even old enough to retire in the normal way in the US at 61. Earliest you can get medicare is 65 for example so you'd need to either somehow fund a very expensive individual insurance plan for 4 years or else go 4 years with no insurance and hope you don't get a medical problem that puts you on the hook for five hundred thousand dollars or some similar small fortune that medical bills can quickly run up in the US when not covered by your employer insurance and too early for medicare.
You also can't even take social security benefits with a penalty at 61. 62 is the earliest age you can agree to taking a cut in benefits for to get those benefits early. At age 61 you can't get any social security benefits no matter how much you're willing to take a penalty discount on them.
And retirement isn't meant to start when you're near dead. The idea is supposed to be you get a nice large chunk of years end of life to enjoy being free. Like at least a decade.
If you're healthy and financially well off you could easily, correctly expect a much longer life than the average expectancy. Look at US Presidents for example. Jimmy Carter's 99, Bush Sr. died at 94, Joe Biden's 81 and running for reelection, Reagan died at 93, Ford at 93 too, etc.

salt it and throw it in the fridge for a day before hand completely uncovered. buy an internal oven thermometer, cook it on a wire rack above the cooking vessel for the best cut. Alternatively you can suise vide if you don't care about browning the outside. Don't get a deli meat slicer unless you will actually use it. I'm tired of people buying those things and dumping them into the cupboard never to be seen again. just accept the thicker cut.

thanks, i will give that a shot. if there's a slicer that will do meat and will slice bread then i can spend the kitchen space on it and i'll use it regularly. otherwise i'll stick to knives.

any deli slicer will slice bread, but it's kind of a wierd thing to do. I assume you mean, like, crusty bread and not wonderbread style pillowy rolls. though even those will go through if you just freeze them.

Albini was married to film director Heather Whinna and they work and live in Chicago.[16] His right leg was slightly deformed as a result of a car accident when he was 18.

In 2010, he revealed that he was not an avid consumer of media. However he watches a lot of cat videos on YouTube and avoids seeing feature films.[93] In a 2011 interview Albini said he is an atheist.

According to a 2022 interview, Albini avoids drugs and alcohol. He has stated that his father was an alcoholic, and that made him aware of his "own vulnerability to addiction.

Albini died on May 8, 2024 of a heart attack.

By the way, did you guys know that famous music producer Steve Albini is a pedophile who has twice admitted to owning and enjoying child pornography?

In his glowing endorsement of Peter Soto's PURE magazine, a child pornography zine which got Sotos convicted of possessing and distributing CP, Albini praises PURE for it's punk rock ethos and speaks warmly of Sotos. Albini also goes on to express his own pleasure at the content of the magazine:

The cover of PURE 2 is a guy holding open a toddler’s puny hole so his spuzz can dribble out. The girl is past crying. She is destroyed. Like I said, I like that sort of thing

    Source: https://i.imgur.com/Gm7otzo.jpg

From the European Big Black tour diary, Albini recounts his enjoyment of the child pornography magazines he found in a sex shop in Hamburg:

Jaded as I am, I can't help but flip seeing a girl and guy of twelve or thirteen, tops, ramming Martel bottles up each other's asses. These are not the Dutch equivalent of abused trailer-park kids, either. They look to be in excellent health and seem to be honestly enjoying this. Makes all the conventional arguments against this kind of thing seem really silly. They're kids. Kids like to play with their own and other people's privates. They're just being photographed at it. Now, people who get a voyeuristic charge out of watching them, like me, I guess, well, we've got some grip-on-reality problems. There's maybe 1% of all pornography that has any effect on me, and it's definitely not a turn-on very often. But when it is, and it's as weird as this, it's pretty hard to take.

    Source: https://i.imgur.com/9obDb08.jpg

Further elaboration on Albini's friendship with Sotos and his own child pornography conviction:

Sotos defending his distribution of child pornography in court, stating "child abuse is a sublime pleasure: https://i.imgur.com/UCn5NFB.png

      >By the way, did you guys know that famous music producer Steve Albini is a pedophile who has twice admitted to owning and enjoying child pornography?

because child pornography use to be legal. You could open up national geographic and see naked children all over the place and teenage girls with their ass and tiddys hanging out when they did articles on native tribes and aboriginal bullshit. Main stream pop groups would release albums and music videos featuring naked children. Main stream movies released in regular theaters would have adult x minor relationships. It was considered completely normal until one day it wasn't. And now you think thats normal because you have no frame of reference telling you otherwise. Now that india has legalized ownership of child porn, and let 800 million indians online, you are going to be drug kicking and screaming into a new reality where the majority of unwashed savages think you are the weirdo for having an issue with it.

there are no political sollutions to this problem.

"good" fresh bread: $4.99 loaf / about 16 slices
roast beef: $8.99 lb / about 8 slices
"good" cheese: $5.99 lb / about 12 slices
About $1.93 per roast beef sandwich if I only use a single slice of beef and cheese. Two slices of each it's about $3.54
A Big Mac is about $4.99+tax but you can often get two of them for $5 or $6 on sale.
Most of the Big Macs I've had recently weren't that great. Lukewarm and the buns are disappointing.
    Hmm...

Listened to Songs About Fricking for the first time in a few years. I forgot how fricking NASTY the production is on this. No wonder Cobain wanted him so bad for In Utero. Why do all the good artists keep dying, bros?

I would enjoy the roast beef more than the big mac, but I'd need a coke zero to go with it.

Was there a recent uptick in people dying suddenly? Or did you only start noticing that people die all the time because you have no life of your own?

According to a 2022 interview, Albini avoided drugs and alcohol. He stated that his father was an alcoholic and that made him aware of his "own vulnerability to addiction."
Albini died from a heart attack at his home in Chicago on May 7, 2024, at the age of 61.
Well, it wasn’t from fast food, or alcohol, or drugs. It must have been all that deli roast beef.

i think culturally people are too dependent on fast food
you can buy enough meat to feed you for a week for the price of 1 big mac lol
i recently bought 3 pounds of ground beef at 2 dollars a pound because it was on sale, i made like 14 or 15 burgers im gonna grill them today,

Not sure where you live but even $15 won't get you that much protein unless you are anorexic. Please drink bleach.
