I know there’s already a deenz thread, but I tried sardines for the first time and they’re so fucking good.
The one I had is from wild planet. I can’t wait to try other brands of tin fish

I like canned fish in general due to the price (salmon is especially cheap when compared to the fresh version). Not sure how healthy it is in the long run though.
really? I've found that canned salmon is usually 5 ounces and 5$ and that fresh is 10-12 for 10$, at least at my grocery store. So you're paying double but you're getting at least double as well.
Holy fuck, son. How old is that picture???
I need this in my life.
It's a couple of years old. Inflation has raised the price a bit but it should still be under $4.
Checked. After you have exhausted supermarket options, check any local Euro/Polish markets. Sometimes Aldi also has similar items (but not reliably).
Buttered Dave's killer bread & sardines in a sandwich press. So fk'n good
I buy the Wild Planet Pacific sardines in EVOO from Costco as my daily deenz. They come out to about $1.60 per can. If I want something different I'll get some Bela's or Matiz deenz. I don't really bother with more boutique and expensive brands than those simply because I view deenz as affordable and convenient sources of shelf stable protein, and I feel like if I start buying pricey brands I'll stop enjoying the cheaper ones as much which defeats the purpose.
Not Season? These are like the only boneless ones I'll buy because I just like them as much.
Wish we had something like Nuri as cheap because I like having them packed with a whole pepper and vegetable garnish.
I won't go as far as saying they're good, but they're not bad. I haven't really found a way to eat them yet that really works. Best luck I've had is with Colman's hot english mustard, but even then I can't eat them as often as I want to since they're super healthy. A little too gamey and fishy for me to genuinely love it.
pickled onions really tame them
Mash them with some may for a fish salad sandwich if you don't mind being a fatass.
Mackerel > Sardines
Anchovy > Mackerel = Sardines
Consider buying some espinaler sauce. That shit goes beautifully with sardines
lifesaver
i would clear that out and ask the manager to order a pallet
These are great on buttered toast with a side of scrambled egg, cheap and lots of protein for those who do lifting.
what's the best brand of canned sardines?
It's subjective as to what medium/flavor you want
just give me a general runthrough, i know practically nothing about them
Put them in a dish, chop them up a bit cover with instant flavoured cous cous (Mediterranean herbs and tomato or Hispanice infusion, etc.) cover with boiling water and wait a few mins.
Wala. Instant lunchtime snack.
Sounds good, will try it out.
