The smoother the design the more comfortable it will be. That is all I care about, really.

why does it need to be smooth? you are using them as food eating utensils, right?

Flight is for non-silverware. If my utensils are made out of actual silver, they better have ornate designs.

Why? Isn't the fact that it made of silver enough ornate enough?

        Anonymous

Yeah but you don't want your dumbass relative who doesn't understand the value of silver or the ability to recognize it to throw out your silver so you should be ornate

Why are your relatives throwing out your silverware anyway?

Because I was triggered by seeing a suicide joke on Neopets and killed myself.

People who can't recognize silver will get rid of it regardless of design, there are basic SS versions of everything.

Bought a set of pic related from Marshall Field's before they went out of business. My forks have four prongs instead of three but otherwise it's the same set.

how do these feel to hold?

        Anonymous

They have good balance. The texture of the handle is good. They're lighter then you'd expect for their size because the handle is hollow but the walls of the handle are thick enough to give it good weight and not feel delicate. The boxiness of the handle makes them easy to grip.
I've been happy with them. They've also good up to thousands of trips through the dishwasher over the years without any discoloration.

It's called "eternally yours" introduced in 1941 and discontinued in 1973 by Rogers Bros. It's actually silver plated, not full sterling. Though I have seen some people claim they've got sterling stamped versions of that floral design, I've never seen it personally. If yours are stamped sterling it could be worth SIGNIFICANTLY more. They're worth about $3-6 per piece if they're silver plate, and if you have the full 16 place box set those can be worth $800-1200.

How massive are your banquets to need more than one set?

He likely meant a few place sets, as in a full set for 4 or 5 people. Not multiple full dining sets (usually between 12-18 places)

It isn't. Normal people do not give a single frick about this. Rich, poor, it doesn't matter. You have to have some kind of brain defect to think decorative cutlery ends are important or make any difference to anything.
It is trivial. People who care about this should be looked on with pity if anything.
