Soooo... Are you suppose to spread butter before toasting or after toasting?

My room mate just gave me some verbal abuse over toasting buttered bread in his toaster but that's how I've always done it in a pan and I thought it would be the same process right?

nah mate, ur a retarded cunt. You toast the bread, then you butter it. if you put butter on the bread and then put it in the toaster, you get butter all over the fucking toaster. i better not catch you getting bread crumbs on the butter either you daft twat.

Buttering before toasting is a great way to die in a grease fire.

You're just mad because you can't afford butter and you have to buy margarine.

There are very few toppings you can put on before toasting. Ham, liver pâte, veg etc.

If you ARE going to do this it MUST be in a toaster that toasts horizontally so you're not dripping butter into your toaster.

You can get away with it in a Mitsubishi TO-ST1

I sometimes put garlic bread from the store in my toaster, but toasting bread with normal butter or margarine is a recipe for disaster, and I can't believe that there are people that are over the age of 9 that haven't figured this out yet.

The butter melts and drips down into the toaster where it's impossible to clean and can potentially cause a fire. Butter afterwards or stick with pan toasting.

youre going to start a grease fire
and, as i have learned from using a toaster oven to make toast, buttering before heating kills the butter flavor and its just oil

Have a stash of room temperature butter. It spreads much better. I don't know why so many people are squeamish about not refrigerating it.
