Stupid Simple Meals

I grew up under a rock where doritos were my main diet, and the only reason I know how to boil water is cuz I dunno why I know how, since I never have a need for it lol

What are some common whole food things that can be made quick and easy? I'm looking for everyday meals, not trying to impress anyone. There's a lot of simple things that I never seen so please don't assume I already know it and then not post it. Act like I was born yesterday plz.

Example of things I recently learned and the type of stuff I'm looking for:
* Boiled or sauteed carrots. Previously, the only time I ever had carrots not from some frozen dinner was when it was slathered in ranch sauce with extra bacon.
* Plain popcorn. In under my rock, popcorn was drenched in butter and Kraft powdered cheese and no other way. Who'da thunk plain popcorn is fun to make and isn't that bad tasting.
* Potatoes. If I knew it was as easy as tossing a cubed potato in a pan with butter/oil, cook until desired crispness, I'd prolly... have eaten more potatoes.
* Corn and peppers. Someone showed this one to me. It is corn put in a pan with butter, diced green chillies, onion, thyme, salt, black pepper, pinch of cayenne pepper. Top with montery jack if desired. Easy stuff!
* Sandwhiches. Yes I knew this one, but never knew how much better it can taste with the right veggies. + bonus for sneaking in some extra veggies in diet.
* This thing I made up and prolly has a name for already: I take corn tortilla, put it in frying pan with oil. On tortilla, put some cheese, fav beans, sauteed peppers, tiny bit of favorite taco seasoning/sauce, keep it on pan until cheese is melted and tortilla crisp.

Some protein examples would be nice as well. Like for NY steak, I find that just coating with some salt and rosemarry, cook until desired doneness (I use thermometer) is plenty good enough for me. more protein examples please!

I've prepared this chicken in 15 minutes and then oven for about an hour.
    >cut the bell peppers and make a bed on the banking Pan
    >with a sharp knife you cut the ribcage open in the middle (so you can spread the chicken)
    >rub the WHOLE chicken with harissa, salt and pepper for a few minutes
    >let it rest while the oven pre heats
    >220°C until cooked and the skin is crispy
    >spread some mint leaves before serving (dont skip this)

Its hard to season a whole chicken so yours might not be well seasoned, but on the second or third try it will be glorious.

    What about butter biscuit?
    >150g butter with no salt
    >75g brown sugar
    >200g flour
    >1/2 orange zest

    >pre heats the oven at 180°C
    >put everything in a bowl and mix together >grease(?) the baking pan, put butter paper in the pan and grease it too
    >spread the dough on it
    >oven for exactly 20min
    >when its ready you sieve sugar on it and let it cool

    >put 50g of chocolate for 30 seconds on the microwave, take it out and stir
    >repeat until the chocolate has melted
    >put it on the biscuit
    >finish with the other half of orange zest

Prep time is like 10 minutes and I love to eat it with the orange and black coffee.

I'm cooking a black bean chilli for dinner tonight to be eaten with melba.
    Garlic, minced, 5 cloves
    Onion, chopped, 350ish g
Tomato, scored, blanched, peeled and crushed, 200ish g
    Green chillies, chopped, 150ish g
Cooking fat (tallow, bacon render, olive oil, corn oil etc), 80ml
    Salt, as needed
Various powdered dry chillies, to taste
    Powdered cumin, 1,5-2tbsp
Cooked black beans and their cooking liquids, yield from 225g/half lb dry
    Tomato juice, 600ml

In saute pan, combine first five ingredients.
Salt generously and saute until liquids are reduced out and pan contents look quite dry.
Add powdered chillies and cumin and stir to mix through.
    Add beans and their liquids.
    Cook, stirring constantly, until reduced.
    Add tomato juice.
    Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
    Adjust salt to taste.
    Garnish as you'd like.

    Spanish pumpkin sauce for pasta.
    Get a spanish pumpkin.
    Peel it.
    Chop it.
    Put it in a pot.
Add some garlic cloves. No need to cut them.
    Add some flaked chilli.
    Add some olive oil.
    Add some water.
    Boil until soft.
Mash with back and side of cooking spoon.
    Reduce liquid.
    Salt to taste.
Off the heat and stir in lots of fresh sweet parsley and cover the pot to let it infuse into the sauce.
To cook with pasta, take some sauce, add some water, boil, add pasta, boil until done and eat as a soup-y meal.

    Scapes and chicken
    Cut chicken.
Stir fry in a little oil until coloured, but not done then remove from the pan to rest.
    Cut scapes.
Stir fry in a little oil until almost tender.
    Re-add chicken and its juices.
    Stir-fry a minute.
Mix soya sauce with chinese chicken stock, cornflour, sugar and mushroom seasoning powder.
Add to pan and stir-fry into the dish.
When thickened and everything is saucy, remove from the pan and serve with rice.

          >here's Spanish pumpkin pasta sauce
You're the homosexual here. OP is specifically asking for the most basic shit possible like beans and rice and you're talking about peeling Spanish pumpkins and 10+ ingredient stews. I get that you're just looking for an excuse to talk about the recipes you want but it's explicitly the opposite of what this thread is about

So.... you do think boiling a pumpkin is complex? Here's a recipe for you then: get a can of soup and open it. You'll have to eat it cold, though, since boiling is clearly too complex for such a little girl.
Careful not to cut yourself with the can opener.

A bag of mixed slaw makes a nice base for a stir-fry. Get a bag of carrot/broccoli slaw, stir fry it in oil with some garlic and toss in a few shrimp/prawns at the end along with some chicken stock (better yet, seafood stock) and cornstarch to thicken it up. Good. Quick. Cheap(ish). And easy.
                Eat with rice.

meme all you'd like, but I love frozen edamame (soybeans). I either eat them by themselves with a little salt and butter, or make a steak and pour all juice on top of the beans. They take gravies I make pretty good too.

My first meal that wasn't hamburger helper or something was from here, millionbof. Some scandanavian dish that's basically just butter, onions, ground beef, and time. Eat with potatoes, bread, frozen peas, whatever. But I'll scattershot your list:
-Carrots tossed in a oven-safe pan in butter, brown sugar, and spoked paprika. Stick them in a 300 degree oven until they're 1/3 their size.
-Baked potatoes are easy. Coat them in a brine (salt and water), bake, and for the last 10 minutes coat in oil so they fry up in the oven.
    I also like cornbread casserole.

I think it was recipe for egg roll but instead of filling it and rolling I just added stuff directly to it.
    >5dl milk
    >5 eggs
    >1dl flours
    >add anything you want like mushrooms, onions, bell pepper...
mix and put in oven for like 20min @200degree.

Rick Bayless Black Bean Tacos. A big part of why they are so good is the simplicity. I recommend trying his recipe as presented before adding anything to it.

Thanks for this. I usually just go full on lazy and microwave some black beans and spread it on tacos but this looks easy enough and maybe a little tastier

    > Sandwhiches

Make a fried egg sandwich. Frying an egg is a pretty fundamental thing to learn. You will learn about how to cook eggs as well as how to fry things and it will open up new opportunities for cooking. You’re already at the sandwich level, so it’s just a small step up to make a fried egg sandwich.

Oatmeal. It's oats and water. I prefer to make it with rolled oats. They taste better than instant. You can add some fun things like fruit (I like sliced bananas and raisins) too.

Smoothie: ice, yogurt, frozen fruit, juice in a blender.

Omelettes. You can make one with just oil for a frying pan, cheese, and eggs. If you want to step it up a bit you can try some more advanced omelettes like a Denver omelette.

If you want to step things up a little bit, I like this website: https://www.budgetbytes.com/. Recipes are practical and inexpensive. Don't be too scared of recipes that look a bit complicated. They'll take longer when you first start making them, but once you learn the basics of cooking it gets way easier.

I'm not sure if you want something that's really easy or just something that
doesn't require a lot of ingredients. If it's the former, then I'd say scrambled
eggs are pretty much the easiest thing to make. If it's the latter, then I'd go
with something like pasta with jarred sauce.
