    Because eggs takes that spot.
    Chicken is 2nd place.
Tuna is a close 3rd place because you cannot eat it every day.

It's not cheaper than chicken thighs or even bulk ground beef, you can get chicken thighs for ~$1.80 per lb and beef at like $3 per lb. Your tin of tuna is only ~4oz of meat depending on the brand and they're over $1 now meaning you'd spend roughly $4 per lb.

a can of tuna, with crushed cheetos, mayo and sometimes sriracha all mashed up together is so fricking good. i dont care if my friends call it prison food. dont knock it til youve tried it

It's simple the cheetos add msg and the mayo adds fat. Try adding a little dijon mustard as well. It balances the richness of everything nicely.

Because mackerel is a far superior and tastier alternative, also things like beef chuck can be used for hundreds of dishes from birria to bourguignon. If you don't care about the toxicity then just eat tilapia, if you fry it up with cormeal its tasty. Even dave portnoy got mercury poisioning from canned tuna, the same will happen to you.

Tuna is fricking expensive what are you talking about? Did you mean saury or other similar cheap fish?

In terms of protein/$ it's not quite a good as straight chicken breast or nasty battery eggs but it's still one of the best

Can only safely eat it like 2-3 times a week.

    I don't get it
you open up a can of tuna and a load of shitty salty liquid spurts out causing only lasting misery and destruction far beyond its inherent means

    and people just tolerate this?

I've only found tuna melts good with fresh tuna. Canned just always tastes like paper prison food. I've found no way to make it work.

That’s my first one. I used three different cheeses and added cilantro and tomato to drained canned tuna. No mayo

I like a nice seared slab of tuna, but tuna from a can is always vile. Smoked herring is better.

Don't you get literal brain damage for eating this everyday considering the amount of mercury it has?

No you get figurative brain damage.

I figuratively don't like you and don't see us ever being friends. But I'm a nice enough guy to say something like this so you can burn me about not wanting to be my friend anyways.

Other than salmon, you should look for sardines/anchovies/mackeral that's in a GLASS JAR. That's the best-case scenario and you can probably get away with eating them everyday.

I mix it with mayo and that's it. Instead of relish and diced onion, I use slices of pickles and onion. You might call it "deconstructed" or something similar. Makes for probably the best lunch meat out there. But yeah, what the other guy said. Eggs are so much cheaper and better for you.
