I know this is a food and cooking forum on Culinaly so most people here don't know much about food or cooking, but you should be made aware that celery is as nearly a fundamental ingredient in cooking as onion. It's not only for housewives on crash diets to eat raw as a snack.
You're supposed to wash and cut it into stalks anf put them in water in a container in the fridge. If you don't eat it all within 5 or 6 days, you chop up the stalks and freeze them for mirepoix.
First thing I do when i get home from the store is portion and wrap my meats in Saran wrap and aluminum foil, and wash and process my celery and carrots into celery stalks and carrot sticks.
