Terrible rebrand

Just got an email invite to the Von Trapp rebrand party. The appeal of the brand (lodge and brewery) is nostalgic Austrian styling. This generic modernist rebrand is honestly revolting. How can anyone think this is a good idea?

Most companies only rebrand themselves as a hail mary pass when they're on the verge of bankruptcy and nobody can think of any other ways to increase brand recognition at this point.

Zoomers don't drink beer. All beer companies are on thin ice, small companies especially.

NTA, but I don't know anyone that drinks beer particularly. I know people who drink wienertails or scotch/whisky heads, but not a ton of younger beer drinkers in my friend groups. I can only think of 1 or 2 out of 20-25 people

Huh maybe that's why most of them are only regional and can't be found outside of where their primary local customer base is

That looks appealing. It feels mildly gothic inspired. Too embellished to be considered particularly modern. I get a sense of dingy Satanic rituals in dark wood-strutted basements. It's like discovering the dark secret beneath the chirpy veneer of The Sound of Music.

The brewery is associated with the Von Trapp lodge which is a resort in Stowe Vermont. The story is the Von Trapps settled there because it was similar to Austria and they created the lodge to be an alpine destination in New England. It all centers around nostalgia and hiraeth (see pic related) and now some homosexual millenial has ruined it with this gay ass branding.

    The "old" styling for reference.
What's great about the brand is they do German/Austrian lagers instead of double cat spray

Looks like money well spent, that's some terrible graphic design and probably itself a rebrand.

I’d much prefer drinking retro looking beer cans. Big ass steel cans with 1950s looking branding on it. Retro brands in general are a good look.

      I like the 70s grossness.

The old styling looks like shit
It looks like they paid a mediocre graphic designer to make them the blandest packaging possible. Like they are trying to look like one of those fake indy brands that's really owned by inbev. (The new look sucks too)

Probably trying to compete with White Claw, which is pulling in women and youth.

      >Austrian styled resort and beer hall trying to compete with gay seltzer water and grain alcohol

That's like saying Stilton is trying to compete with land of lakes. The entire premise is literally moronic.

And yet, White Claw keeps growing and Von Trapp is rebranding in fruity colors and modern flat design for completely unrelated reasons.
