Based, mogs. It's not strictly true that cheap sake is universally better but there's a quality dip where spending a little more on sake makes it worse, you have to get into like $50 a bottle before it even gets close

Shame that this is as cheap as it gets and about $24 for the 1.5l here
        Soju is like $18 too
I prefer it to the black
The silver is still pretty good though

I also don't get all the hate for one cup sake either (the real not the comes in a 180ml cup stuff)

the first time i went to japan i got blackout drunk off the 700 yen carton of sake from lawson and shit myself in the airbnb

Pissed myself in my hotel's elevator in Kyoto as I was always staying super hydrated even while drinking and had took a minute to figure out the stupid anti stalker / rape insert your room key then select floor BS.
        Thankfully no one saw.

Some asians may sensitive to alcohol, but I think it works like with whites and spicy food, others just take up the slack.

Decided to get dinner / drink near the hotel in a decent looking area. It was one of the places that was a minimum of 2 or 3 drinks, they recommended just doing Nomihoudai and they had a huge selection of refrigerated sake or room temp (30+ different types) that you served yourself and put in the warmer yourself if you wanted it that way.
There were just maybe a few people there, then this group of older women come in and get a table a bit away making a bit of noise. Go up to get my sake in one of those 250ml or so glasses, wasn't sure so poured maybe 50ml , figured that is what you should probably do.

Well up until those older women came up and each grabbed one of those glasses and filled it absolutely back to the brim and went back to their table.

Ended up washing, deciding to just sleep a bit, woke up and it was already 10 PM so decided to call it a night instead of heading to the Inari shrine (I had been getting by with only 5 or so max hours of sleep per day for about a week).

I drink it straight out of the box at room temperature because I'm not a homosexual that needs to perform a ritual before drinking a shot of sake.

It was a little thin compared to authentic sake, but easy to drink and didn't taste bad.
And it was cheaper than other cheap sake, so I often bought it.
But I don't see it much these days.

Middle class and above use it as a cooking sake.

I guess that depends on how you classify cheap and mid-range pizza, but I totally agree that every expensive pizza I've had has been extremely underwhelming. My favorite pizza place sells these 18" pizzas that are the best pizzas I've ever had. It's roughly $20. I consider that to be a fair price (maybe pushing into mid range)

In Begin Japanology type travel documentaries where they interview (read: shill) sake breweries they constantly say over and over again that sake takes a fruity flavor the more finely polished the rice grains are. I've also seen them claim the shape of the cup changes the taste of the sake because you sip it differently. Seemed like pretentious pseud shit.

your palate could suck for reasons such as smoking or you're not making sure your tongue gets coated in the liquor properly. a bunch of neat flavors exist if you would take the time to learn how to coax them out
