It's all a matter of taste and context.

Crinkle is always made from dehydrated potato powder tuned into a slurry and then extruded into crinkle shapes.

The others are all cut from whole potato and that's it. Tots are made by re-forming chopped up/ground up potatoes into uniform pieces. I can understand why they were excluded from the image and that's why I didn't list them in

Post video of you cutting fries that are crinkled on all sides. You can't because it's only possible through using extrusion.

I'm a crinkle cut guy myself. It's simple and traditional, I know, but I like what I like. I grew up on the stuff. I understand that other people prefer other types of fries and that's alright. It's not my place to decide how people should cut their potatoes. That would be frickin' stupid.

If they're done right, crinkle cuts are by far the best because of sauce retention when dipping and being meatier but not to meaty of fries. Hard to get right evidently because if you order them 4 times, they'll come back mid to okay twice, inedible once and you'll just toss them, and the forth time they are significantly better than the other options.
Years ago Del Taco ALWAYS served them perfect but they changed their supplier, recipe, or something because they're almost never edible. And I say almost because the last 2 times I went there once was like old times and the other time they were pretty good.
    Zoomers don't like them though

I love me some curly fries, but they suck for the good:bad fry ratio though. You get like 3 or 4 good spools and the rest are burnt end shit. And they are only good seasoned. The hooters unseasoned curly fries are shit on a plate.

Steak fries are good, but they are a bit big. Wedges are pretty good when seasoned right, but they are always soft and not crunchy. Neither can be best.

I don't know why, but everytime I have crinkle fries, they are always perfect - crispy exterior, soft fluffy interior. They seem underrated.

Shoestring are the most fricked up fry out there. 9:10 these fricks are ruined slop. At least fast food does these proper, usually.

Waffle fries are forgettable. It's like a novelty try hard form of fries.

Anyway, I'd go crinkle if I had to pick one.

Honorable mention: tots and hashbrown patties. Both are damn good forms of potato. Tots can be overdone though, and the patties are a bit of a pain to sauce dip.

While crinkles, Waffle and frozen spiral EXCEL in an oven, All the others are AMAZING if deep fried in FAT, not Oil.
Both the thickness of the steak fry and the floppiness of the shoestring are corrected when fried in this way.
I maintain it's context and taste.
Tot's have their purpose too, but those hashbrowns can be Breakfast KINGS if crispy on the outside, and still creamy on the inside.
Make a great layer for a breakfast sandwick or wrap/burrito too.(cut in half longways)

Burger place near me does spiral cut steak fries. Best of all worlds. Smaller ones are crispy as frick, average ones have some crunch with fluffy inners, and larger ones are more like wedges.

if buying frozen and baking at home, wedge is easiest to arrange on a single layer
otherwise, waffle is superior, but all are acceptable methods of potato delivery

All of them can be prepared so poorly that one thinks that it's the style of fry itself that's the problem.
Though frick #5, even done well they're weak sauce.
