Not even the deli salsa is better. I eat lots of salsa and the only thing that beats Mateos is when I make homemade.

what does it taste like. Is it sweet? Is there a ton of cilantro and lime?

It's basic salsa but doesn't have that grocery store jarred salsa taste like pace, la victoria, etc.,
The ingredients all seem like they're very high quality which as odd as it sounds the salsa is supposedly gourmet salsa but tastes like it actually is.
For a comparison, think Oscar Meyer hot dogs vs. something like the Boars Head frankfurter. One is basic and gets the job done which is fine while the other is over the top good.

Sometimes I feel like I live on a separate sensory plane from other people. Like... It's food. Obviously low quality food is not tasty but otherwise, food is food? Honorable mention for food that's chock full of "natural flavors"/"spices" which is just code for glutamates.

Maybe you just grew up without good experiences? Did you have covid yet? Or yes, your brain is wired differently, when then leads me to wonder why you're on this forum with a statment like "food is food"

I'm sure you can puzzle it out if you apply your mind rationally. I did say that there is food which is low quality and not tasty. Stands to reason that I recognize "undesirable" and "not-undesirable" with reference to food.

                >FOOD AND COOKING, moron
You just changed the subject. When I said Like...it's food. I was at least tangentially (and I think it was more direct than that) a store-bought frankfurter. Not cooking.

It's cooking when I boil the frankfurter in beer to the point where the skin just splits, then throw it in the cast iron and cook the exterior until it's done to perfection.
Do you just eat them raw or something?

                >Do you just eat them raw or something?
No, but I reckon that "This ingredient is 'just so', not otherwise." and "These ingredients are 'just so', not otherwise." And do not conflate one thing with the other. And the conversation was about the frankfurter themselves, (con meaning between two or more), not something else. If it were about the cooking method and the results, which you offered after your post (assuming same anon) and not with the same post, then my response would have been in line with I said before ("of course inferior ingredient merit/"are conducive to" inferior results). That's not what happened though, just saying.

The original post was in regards to the supreme store bought salsa and also throwing a line in the water to see of there's something out the I'm missing out on that I didn't know about yet (hence food)
Then someone asked specifics as to what it tasted like that made it so good, so I spoke to that and offered the hotdog comparison (valid) but that was not the focal point of the thread which was about salsa.
Then for some reason you target the hotdog post ranting and raving about not being cooking related, so I circled back and hit you some cooking technique about the aforementioned frankfurter which should have left you speechless but you just can't stop yourself from babbling on like some deranged lunatic.

I just tried the "cantina" version of the Mateo's medium for my Taco night, and thought it's better than ever!

I think all I've seen is mild, medium, and hot and don't recall seeing a cantina version but I'm almost out and think I'll head to Walmart to see if they have it.

I legit only bought it because of the cool ass chili peppers on the label, and I was pleasantly surprised. It really is some of the best store-bought salsa around, but I don't shill it because I don't want everyone else to know.

I've never had better store bought salsa than this brand. The green hatch chili variety is insanely good for shelf shit. Doesn't have a long shelf life but doesn't matter since I fricking inhale the whole thing in like 3 days
