Not OP but I love a Mars bar AND ALSO unlike absolute degenerate companies like Nestlé et al, Mars is actually a nice company and when it comes to chocolate bar sales they rape the shit out of everyone as well.

      What?

For example, I live in Australia. Our Mars Bars are the same as American Milky Way Bars, and our Milky Ways are the same as American 3 Musketeers Bars. Snickers are the same.

I don't think we had that. We do occasionally have an almond Snickers so maybe that's similar but nobody buys that shit

Speaking of almonds, these almond m&m are pretty good. A couple times when I was a kid I'd eat a whole big ass family sized bag. Just twice.
Now I can still find them but don't pig out on them.

I think she's getting at the point that the US hasn't had a Mars bar in over 20 years and the one they DID have is entirely unlike an actual Mars bar because it was just a Snickers with almonds.

the protein bar has about the same calories(protein bar slightly less) and has actual use, also not quite as hard on your blood glucose so even just as a lazy fat inactive person it's superior. also it tastes great

I don't tend to like filled chocolate bars but I lose my mind over peanut butter Snickers. Also, biscuit bars/cookie bars. Y'know. KitKats, Prince Polo, BarNone (holy frick, is BarNone good) etc. Not Lion, tho. They taste weird.

Apaarently the UK Mars bar is different from the USA one? UK one is nougat with a layer of caramel surrounded by chocolate, whereas the USA one doesn't have the caramel, which makes it more like the UK's Milky Way bar, which is also different from the USA's Milky Way bar. Confusing shit.

Either way, I used to like the UK Mars bar, but they've gotten too small and expensive over the years and I stopped buying them.

FOr me it's the international version of Milky Way.
    So good.
Do people know this in the US under some sub-name (MW "White" or "Pure" or sth like that) or a different name as well?

      >BarNone
In the US it's just a milky whey. also the nougat only version is a 3 musketeers bar

Why is it so different between the rest of the world and the US?
    That's so confusing.
"Mars" is like an absolute staple for "candy bar" in the rest of the world, but apparently what we know as Mars is Milky Way in the US. The thing closest to our Milky Way on the other hand is 3 Musketeers, which is similar to it but not exactly equal. "Mars" on the other hand apparently does not even exist as a bar, only as limited temporary editions.
Why not simply make it consistent?

It's mainly historical reasons why those names have stuck. Milky Way was the first Mars candy bar, and it got the (vomit) chocolate from Hershey; Mars bars used Cadbury chocolate so it can sell in Europe.
3 Musketeers initially came with three separate bars; after the second Great War, due to rationing and sheer popularity, only the chocolate-filled bar survived. Seeing that Euros will wonder why there was only one candy bar in a 3 Musketeers, they opted to use the Milky Way legacy branding.
The modern candy bars probably are similar if not identical, bar their sizes. Off the tangent, Mars candy bars were inspired by ice cream.

Anyone ever heard of or even tried the shake from which Milky Way got its name and - therefore also Mars - taste profile from?
    Does it still exist?

Why are mars bars, curly wurly, etc all less than a third of the size they used to be?

It's the sugar taxing and obesity crisis that has reduced bar size.
