Just use beef. I guarantee it costs less.

So use more expensive beef. You can make it cost more if that's really what you're after.
So far there are two demographics proposed in this thread (sensible shoppers and money blowers) and beef comes out on top for both.

You're missing the entire point of this thread, bubba.

          You know what?
That sounds like a great idea. For the same price I can eat real meat instead of this fake goyslop shit.

Would try if I ever saw it in a store, mushrooms are good for you but I hate how they taste.

I looked at some reviews and apparently it has no shroom taste. I am tempted to try it just for shits.

Please do and report your findings. At least one person would be interested for a reason other than pointless cutchawawwing.

They taste like dirt and are only added to soups and stews to imitate meat, kinda like tofu

Reject all frankenfood trash. Want meat? Eat meat. Want mushrooms? Eat mushrooms.

Usually I feel similarly, but this is quite different than something like the impossible burger. It is just mycellium with some flavoring.

Mushrooms are fungi so they don't have roots, I guess this is what they're calling mycelia so that they don't have to admit to people that they're feeding them underground mushroom spider webs

    That'll be $17/Lb plus tip

It is expensive. I may just try it out of curiosity, and it is on bogo at my local store. I won't say which because I don't want you to call me a shill.

I think this fake meat is really interesting because it is not an ultra processed glute
soy science slop that resembles meat. It's basically just mycellium and flavoring. Reviews say it is quite good also.

It's an intriguing product, and I think it deserves a little more than the knee jerk reaction most fake meats get.

I bought a bunch of these (steak and chicken) and they've been sitting in my freezer for weeks. Cooked pics when I get out of the shower

Mushrooms are indigestible. Not my problem if people want to mainline them though.

This Mushroom steak thing grosses me out more than the thought of Oat milk, but both are gross.

Not a fan of carne asada seasoning but the classic steak is good. Put plenty of salt and pepper on both sides before cooking. Keep cooking until fully browned on both sides. It is better to overcook than undercook since the seared outside helps make it taste like a steak.

Ty for the review. Is the texture nice? I heard it is kind of like stewed meat.

            > Is the texture nice?
Reminds me of filet mignon if seared properly. Outside is crisp but inside is soft. Though inside is softer than filet so "stewed meat" is not off base. Best eaten by itself since the softer texture tends to disappear in something like a philly cheesesteak.

Mecelium are basically the same thing who gives a frick you dork homosexual. They are put as mycelium in the ingredients list.
