Good if you don't have a convection oven and don't need to cook for more than one person. Otherwise the oven is often a better choice

    frying air is pointless

Very convenient and epic if you are lazy like me.

theyre more convenient to heat up shit like fish fingers, tendies, etc than waiting for the oven to preheat and having a longer cooking time than in the air fryer tbh

get a modern microwave/toaster oven/instapot/whatever, they all have convective modes now

all it does is dry the hell out of whatever you put in

      >because cooking in a vat of molten plant fat makes the food "wet"

The heat from the air cooks the fries.

I have NEVER had crispier tater tots than from an air fryer. Yes I have the palate of a toddler.

I shit blood a few times after eating air fry potatoes. Was shitting blood for years though and only cleared it up recently. Just a lot more blood than usual from the air fryer

It's nothing you really need but if you are lazy/have the counter space/have money to spare it's nice to have. definitely makes a difference in fries, reheating pizza and fried chicken (all I've tried so far)

What can air fryers do, that my micro oven can't?

      Anonymous

From what I can gather the air fryers come with larger faster fans and the cooking volume is smaller meaning the air is heated faster. Also unlike a toaster oven the space is more aerodynamic(?) since its a cylinder instead of a rectangle. You can also easily shake the container instead of having to turn everything. Problems being more effort to clean up and I guess they use plastic with nonstick shit on it in the cooking area

i have both a micro oven and an airfryer
airfryers can do stuff abit faster but you cant exactly fit a forzen pizza or baguette in an air fryer

Useless if you have an oven. I was living in a small apartment without one so bought it out of convenience. It's ok but not for large quantities.

My oven lacks a convection setting and getting one of these was cheaper than replacing the oven. I also have enough countertop space

      lol

I just bought this Toshiba off eBay but it was missing its rotisserie accessory (not that I was going to use it) and its top heating elements are busted. Pissed. Probably going to buy a non-convection Zojirushi but it's hard to justify a $100 toaster oven.

Nice non sequitur. What does not wanting to cook with meat have to do with eating tofu? They're not interchangeable.

The polyunsaturated fatty acid profile is abysmal, and it's made from soy which is known to harm your reproductive system. There are plenty of cheap meats out there. Anything made out of pork for example. Eggs are pretty cheap too.

If you live in North America you have a local farm within an hour or two drive that can sell you ethically raised meat/eggs. That's what I do for all my beef and I live in a metropolis.

Fair, still going to avoid meat for the most part though. Personal reasons and all that. Thanks for the advice though.

I'm saving a ton of bread that have gone dry in the freezer by dabbing the bread in water, wrapping it in foil and running it in the airfryer for 7 minutes. Comes out warm and moist again.
Would have taken a lot longer in a large size oven.

Not so great for making real food

The thought of preparing an entire landfowl (the one usually served on a U.S. holiday that is widely celebrated in November) at an incredibly high speed in one of these things makes me smirk, inhale then exhale one time harder than my typical breathing pattern.

It's great, unlike a regular oven it bastes the food in its own airborne nutrients.
