I help bait traps on a family friends lobster boat and he pays me in grocery bags of lobster and crab. I love it and have been eating lobster all my life

I like Lobster but I feel it is overpriced, mainly because I live in the middle of nowhere in the Midwest and I can get super high quality beef for cheaper. I would assume it is much cheaper on the coasts and therefore a much better deal.
Have you ever seen the bay surrounding Alcatraz? Have you ever swam in it? I didn't think so, and the prisoners were too starved from only being fed those bottom feeders so there was no way they had the fortitude to escape
Everyone conveniently ignores that the lobster they were fed was pulverized and had bits of shell in it.
And you can guarantee that shit would have been served anywhere from fresh to fetid because they wouldn't give a fuck about the quality of food for prisoners in a maximum security prison where they were literally not allowed to speak to each other. The "Silence Rule."
The shitty ground up lobster was being fed to prisoners in colonial New England, Alcatraz is on the opposite side of the country & hundreds of years later.
The Alcatraz prison was noted for having the best food among federal prisons at the time, probably because they fed the guards the same stuff. Even the first warden, James A Johnston, who came up with that silence rule, would eat with the prisoners everyday. They also allowed prisoners to eat as much as they wanted within the meal time slot, as long as they did not waste any food. That said, Alcatraz prisoners were not getting any lobster, fanciest food would be stuff like roast beef with mashed potatoes.
Alcatraz was generally a shitty, dull place that was pretty miserable for the prisoners. The food was decent though, both because the prison staff was also eating the same stuff, and the warden believed well fed prisoners would be more compliant. Makes sense; giving them decent food gives the prison staff something they can take away for misbehavior; they really did not have much else they could take away.
I've had it a few times, done by expensive restaurants. Never really struck me as being that tasty. Oysters for example are much more interesting and tasty.
Pain in the arse, messy and totally not worth it.

It’s delicious but never worth the price.
Crab is better
That depends on what type of Crab you prefer.
It really doesn't
poor people food
they used to feed the prisoners in Alcatraz with the water bugs
This is a really, really funny and original post that I haven't seen a million fucking times this week
thanks babe, appreciate the (You) ;^)
They fed all inmates at Alcatraz lobster and other food only the wealthiest people could afford to keep them from trying to escape.
I'm pretty sure the cold fucking water of the SF bay was what kept them from trying to escape, not being fed water bugs
You're right anon no one has ever escaped an island before, and certainly not on a diet of ZE BUGS xDDDD

You're really stupid dude
I'm not the one thinking they would feed prisoners lobsters as a way of bribing them to NOT think about escaping
there's a early race where people swim from alcatraz to SF lmao

Imagine going on the cooking board of a Cantonese stick drawing forum and posting pro-Alcatraz propaganda

>There'll be a moment in your life where you can't eat crab or lobster anymore because they're going extinct due to overfishing.
I fucking hate chinks
The population of shellfish in New England waters has been quite stale apart from the odd red tide.
