Love it. Nutty flavor goes really well with a lot of meats and fish.

I've not had it in years and I've only had it parcooked separately and mixed with regular rice to finish as a pilaf ingredient.

Never liked wild rice hotdish as a kid until I grew up and realized my mom is just horrible at cooking. Nutty, rich taste. Slightly chewy but pleasant texture when properly cooked. I wouldn't want to eat it every day, but I cherish it as a treat. I always look forward to it every Thanksgiving.

I'm from even further North. The DNR boat cops don't want you to know this but wild rice is free. You just hit it with sticks and it falls into your fishing boat.

I spend a lot of time in Orr. Harvest some Pelican Lake rice every year, goes great with broiled walleye.
Cracking a bent paddle 14er now. Cheers.

I like it from restaurants but havent dialed in the method for cooking it at home. It's too hard, then by the time its soft its too mush with nothing but broken grains. Planning on trying soaking like beans next time.

It's one of my favorite foods. I eat it almost every day. A Zojirushi rice cooker makes cooking it a breeze. My shits can't even hold their shape because they're fluffy with wild rice kernels. I like to wet scramble 5 eggs until they're runny but just starting to curd up, then pour it in a bowl of wild rice and eat it with soy sauce. I also think it's the perfect complement for any meat or vegetable.
