How does it differ from Baltic, Scandinavian, or Russian? Seems they are very similar in concept excepting the imported central Asian and Caucasian cuisine popular in Russia.

Actual rye/dark bread is based, it's almost a complete meal with some protein, fiber, starchy carbs, and a bit of fat. I can eat a thick slice toasted with added butter and salt, very filling and savory.

It's snaps. Good for summer when you are serving idk how to translate it but you know, flat bread rolls that has like some meat, sauce and lettuce in it. Also with rotten herring and new potatoes. Potato sallad is also good with it.
What i want to say with that is serve all that with a small glass of snaps, a shot glass.
        Cheers!

Come on, Anon, you call yourself Finnish? Go get a bottle and served it as Mannerheim would. In a shot glass with the surface tension holding the liquor in, and don't spill when pouring or drinking or else the whole table laughs at you.

Finland never really developed high-end cuisine culture. Given the environment here, food was more utilitarian rather than something you'd enjoy as an experience.
I'd say rye bread is the most generally palatable thing here, but even that originates from Syria.
