You put in a cup of rice and two cups of liquid, bring to boil, cover on low for fifteen minutes. Wala

I put less water because this was supposed to be rice for my fried rice

      Did you watch it burn?

steam was covering the glass on the pot, I couldn't see that it was burned

What is the 10-5-5 rule? And why is it that people who've been successfully cooking rice for years without issue have never heard of it?

Same. I'm such a simple home cook I don't even know what the 3rd ingredient in rice would be.

The real secret is to turn off the heat with the lid on and let the rice steam in the pot for the last 5 minutes of cooking

      thats what I did

      >bring ricewater to boil
      >10 minutes on medium high
      >5 on medium low
      >5 minutes off heat
only big mistake I made was forgetting to wash the rice

Sorry to break it to you anon, but you are mentally moronic. Cooking rice in a pot is basically the exact same thing as cooking it in a rice cooker except you have to manually control the heat, which really isn't that complicated. It took me a few tries to get it perfect, but I never actually fricked it up to the point of burning it or anything.

The OBJECTIVELY correct way to cook white or brown rice:
    >wash your rice
    >bring plenty of water, same amount you'd use to cook pasta, to a boil
    >add rice
    >simmer covered for 25 minutes
    >drain, draining 60% of the arsenic content out with the water
    >return to pot
    >cover
    >let steam for 10 minutes
    >it's done
Any other method = enjoy your arsenic.
This is impossible to frick up/burn your rice. This is the best way.
