They ran a promotion at least twice where they gave you $3 off your next order if you picked up your pizza yourself. They even ran it at the same time as their 50% off coupon so you could get a $6 large supreme pizza once a day.

ok bro you are really solving the worlds problems by insisting that waitresses, who have agency in their own decisions, must be fairly compensated. oh the horror i was born a waitress and will die a waitress.

haven’t ordered delivery from Pizza Hut or dominoes in awhile but when I did they tacked on a flat delivery fee. am I supposed to tip in addition to that?

this is a good question. ive struggled with this myself. apparently it is to pay the drivers gas money? that's how it has been explained to me. and if you have ever had a job you know your company has to pay you like 30 cents for any mile driven on the job. that's been a law since i was a kid 30 years ago. so its really a corporate way to cover their asses and the pizza boy isn't getting most of that. i prefer to order from local chains that don't do that corporate bullshit though.

Dickey’s bbq takeout window tried to ask me for a tip. they had the fancy reader that I put my card in when the guy held it out. the he said “it’s going to ask you a question if you want to leave a tip” and I tipped last time but this time I left 0 because it’s takeout come on and the guy said “or not” as I typed 0. felt kinda bad because he was so upbeat until he said “or not” but are you really supposed to tip takeout? and every single time you go at that? didn’t feel like adding the extra 1 or 2 dollars sorry weird 50 year old guy but now I’m scared to go back

The psychology behind suddenly being tipped more will leave the driver chasing a high
Increasing their wage would produce no real productivity improvement (this is why companies only give bare minimum raises to their most dedicated workers and give new hires double the salary just for coming on board)

Because you can only use the coupon in a week. To make it worth it you basically have to eat Dominoes once a week. You’re basically giving your soul to them to pay the exact same price. Also, you’re basically going to re-tip the driver next week and the next week so you’re not actually saving anything and are still paying full price for the food.
