Or Scandinavian gift shops. The Sons of Norway Lodge I volunteer at has a gift shop of imported foods and knick-knacks, cloudberry preserves are one of the standard stocked items. I've noticed in the normal grocery stores "Icelandic Provisions" brand Skyr has a Cloudberry and Peach flavor that is spectacular.

Americans are devoted to heavily processed corn syrup, and this so called "Nordic gold" that can't be cultivated and only grows in boreal forests is highly offensive to them.

So literally everything eating any other fruit can do
They are insanely rare to get fresh. That fruit channel on youtube, Weird Explorer, made a video on them and showed how much of a pain in the ass they are to find; supposedly they're good but also not remarkable.
I had them when I lived in northern Minnesota, granted they were preserves so it was some sugar added to the mostly whole fruit. To me it tasted like an already made apple. Same kind of fruit, kind of like cinnamon but a little bit different spiciness, acidity, then there was this bready taste like whole grain bite. I wish I would have gotten them fresh instead of just local and preserved in sugar and lemon.
I can't tell if this is meme or encouraging people to eat poisonous berries because surely a bunch of hipster fricks would have shilled it to me in restaurants by now.
it's not a meme, here in sweden they're known as the #1 foraging delicacy, like we have loads of bilberries in our forests which are delicious, but cloudberries (hjortron in swedish) mostly grow in the north and are 2-3 times more expensive so they're seen as a more exclusive berry. it's really good
>because surely a bunch of hipster fricks would have shilled it to me in restaurants by now.
They're seasonal, expensive, and difficult to get a hold of in the U.S.
I learned about them here and have regretted not being able to get my hands on them ever since OP. They look wonderful and make me happy for you and your part of the world.
I bought a bodywash that happened to be a cloudberry wash. I liked it. made me wonder what the actual berries tasted like. Amazon isnt a whole lot of help in that department
The rumor has it that they were originally picked by fairies in the clouds and then hidden in the earth where the angels could not find them. The forgotten caches of berries would seed the mires of the north and the berry would grow.
what i've been doing lately with all types of berries is crushing them and straining them to make like 6 fluid ounces of concentrated juice and then shooting it feelsgoodman
American here. My first experience with them was when skyr became a big meme here. Then I wound up ordering some preserves to make multekrem with and spread on toast, elite, very light and pleasant. Wanna try the Finnish lakka liqueur, and of course, fresh ones. Which nordic country are you from?
lord of the rings food
did the elven lords gift those to you
Don't be silly, they are picked in Cloudberry Forest after the moon shines on the summer dew.
you are both wrong, they are from Valheim now and you put them in lox meat pies
They're okay, but AIYA! JAM IS LACISS STELIOTYPUU!
Most Americans haven't even heard of them.
They're pretty much exclusive to fine dining and the upper class from what I can tell.
There aren't many farms that grow them and I think there's one brand of jam you can reliably find.
>fine dining
>biscuit with berries on top
that will be 47.99 plus tip
Everyone (including me) picks litres and litres of them up here where I live (northernmost Sweden).
Make for great jam snd such

Ikea and Chick Fil A have them.
great.
Never heard of them before.
We do not have such berries in the Land of the Free.
They grow in Alaska
bet they are sour
do they have little seeds in them?
They are very sweet.

it grows in the northeast area of the US
idiots have no idea America has pretty much every biome available? want shitty swamps? sure. want alpine meadows and glaciers? sure.

should grow in alaska I guess?
Correct.
Never heard of it.
Boil them with honey, then pour it over some pancakes and then add some whipped cream.
I've only had the cloudberry jam that's available at Ikea here. It's very good. I've sadly never had cloudberries on their own.
This sounds great
I just ordered some cloudberry skyr. I'm gonna taste it.
It's nothing special anon, it's a berry related to raspberries and the taste (while quaint) is reminiscent of citrus and mango.
I'm not expecting too much, but that sounds like a pretty nice flavor.
Sounds tasty
Make jam of them. Use on waffles with whipped cream. Eat too much and feel awesome and bilious.
I like Chick-fil-a
I want to get some seeds. Dunno if they'll grow where I live (the American South).
They won't, unless you do it indoors/hydroponically
I'm interested in doing it too
The plants are dioecious so you likely have to grow a bunch all at once
I wouldn’t exactly call a trip to /misc/ an education.
an education in the dangers of collective radicalization and online groupthink perhaps
*insert Don Draper "I don't think about you at all meme
Ive never eaten them
Not even a taste? Why?
seems kinda lgbtqrsdxvdz
I never had one 🙁 someday I will find
Most of them probably haven't tasted them but the real question is what do they think about sea-buckthorn
Tastes like sucking a dick made out of 100% citric acid
Well, they are quite tart, can't say anything about the dick taste, but I'll take your word for it.
Very very sour, but not in an ”uncomfortable” face-scrounching lemon typ of way.
Make good juice for a vitamin shot
Have a bush at home, sometimes I just stand there munching berries for 40 minutes while staring at the trees
My neighbors are concerned
I had seen this once on that Weird Explorer YouTube channel. Never had one myself, but I do like a casual berry.
Do they grow anywhere in Poland?
They're knows as a nordic fruit, but they've been found wild in some of the colder parts of the baltic nations and Poland, too.

chick fil a had a cloudberry lemonade that was pretty good
never had the berry itself however
I learned about them here and have regretted not being able to get my hands on them ever since OP. They look wonderful and make me happy for you and your part of the world.

don't you mean bakeapple?
I have never seen this berry in my life. I'm imagining a a more acidic raspberry when i look at it.
Very unique, more tart then sweet makes an awesome jam
Will these grow at 4000mts above sea level with day time temps at 25c max and nightime at 0c max?
How do you feel about saskatoon berries, eh?
Found jam on amazon, gonna try it
How do you feel about lemonberry cheesecake?
https://www.twitch.tv/fauxre/clip/FragilePiliableBobaLeeroyJenkins-QHPvneBejZ3PhCqT
How have I never heard of these?
because they need like 1000 hours of cold to actually make fruit. Only frozen shit holes can grow them.
>americans knowing about anything that isn't sold in the walmart produce section
What do they taste like with bacon, cheese & ketchup?
what i've been doing lately with all types of berries is crushing them and straining them to make like 6 fluid ounces of concentrated juice and then shooting it feelsgoodman
Meme food from a nonexistent fantasy realm?
Pass
I dreamt I was eating cloudberries by the handful last night because of this thread and I never tasted them in my life
Thank you OP.

how do euros feel about mayhaw berries?
Had preserves, it honestly doesn't taste like anything to me.
I thought those were cheetos from the thumbnail.
