Non objectively it's Texas because I've spent most of my life there and Houston alone is one of the best food cities in the world but Dallas has some elite restaurants and San Antonio has better Mexican food than Mexico.

Objectively it's probably California, since LA is almost as good as Texas as a while, then they have the hoity toity shit around the bay area.

And NY is in the top 3 because of course NYC is a bunch of smelly foreigners and rich people cuisine plus they have all the good Canadian cross over shit.

Not entirely true. Mexican food in southern California is not found in restaurants but in food trucks and carts and stands by the side of the road. There's a food truck parked not far from our house that serves the best birria tacos you'll ever have. And I got an al pastor burrito from a roadside stand a few weeks ago that absolutely gobsmacked me. Mexican food here is amazing; you just have to know where to find it.

I hate to tell you but I had more bad restaurant meals in florida than any other state I've been, and I lived there for years. It was all expensive too. There were a few top tier ones to be fair, but it was almost all 4/10. Florida in general isn't somewhere you want to live, it's probably the best place for a second home but living there permanently? No thanks

Kind of similar. Maybe a bit less ritzy and old timey.

Supper clubs in the Midwest are basically fancier steakhouses, known for large gathers, especially among older people. They typically require reservations, so you sit at the bar and order wienertails while waiting for a table. Common dishes include prime rib, steaks, and beer battered seafood (perch, walleye, cod, shrimp, scallops, etc...) After eating, you sometimes go back to the bar and order grasshoppers (alcoholic mint milkshakes) and pink squirrels (alcoholic strawberry milkshakes)
