What is the point of non-alcoholic liquor? I get beer for alcoholics, but who is this stuff for?

What is the point of non-alcoholic liquor? I get beer for alcoholics, but who is this stuff for? Isn't hard liquor pure alcohol anyway? How does this even exist?

I guess for non-alcoholic wienertails that sort of taste like the actual thing, instead of a fruit juice mix sloppa.

I like the idea of non alcoholic wienertails, but they're always lacking in flavor and the non-alcohol mystery juice is overpriced.

        >here's your $14 glass of mixed juice, hope you like it!
What the frick is even the point of mocktails? Trying to fit in with friends without consuming alcohol? Why are you even at a bar then? It'd be like going to a burger or chicken place asking for a meat alternative frick you they have for millenia sold meat products for profit and you want salad?

          >Trying to fit in with friends without consuming alcohol?
Yes. Or coworkers. Or for lightweights. And women, definitely for women.

          >Why are you even at a bar then?
You might be there with coworkers, so keeping up appearances might be for retaining your job. Or to attempt to rizz up a female.

          >It'd be like going to a burger or chicken place asking for a meat alternative frick you they have for millenia sold meat products for profit and you want salad?
The bbq joints still sells salad you know, despite being a bbq joint. It's called catering to women. It helps bring in more dudes because now the dude with a wife in tow can eat a salad while the dude wolfs down some brisket. It's not a bad thing. Having options means you can attract more people to your establishment.

Yes, or you're driving and cant drink.
modern society still subconsciously judges non-drinkers.
          >Why are you even at a bar then?
to hang with your friends and meet people

            >modern society still subconsciously judges non-drinkers.
They don't. Thats you being a little b***h not liking the taste of wienertails, beer, and wine feeling embarrassed you're not enjoying the big boy drinks with your friends and still want to look like you're drinking. Mocktails are the equivalent of a candy cigarette and you're there mimicking what others are doing instead of being a self sufficient person and just drinking whatever you want knowing you're the DD, can't drink, or just don't like it but won't admit it.

Your post sounds very judgemental and aggressive towards non-drinkers. You literally assume that the most likely reason someone isn't drinking is because they're a little b***h who can't handle a taste.

You're projecting. Go order an iced tea, soda, or just a water if you're not there to drink at all.
                >oh, but someone might judge me for not ordering a $15 glass of juice!
Then you're a little b***h with no self esteem and nobody likes you. You're at a bar, get a drink or don't.

How am I projecting if I'm directly quoting you?
Also, have you ever been in a bar but not drinking? It's boring and feels weird to not have a drink in your hand. And people will come up to you asking you if you need a drink and bother you about it. I usually drink but in the times when I've had to go out when I wasn't drinking I usually just get seltzer. Self esteem literally is not a factor, I don't care if they think I'm drinking alcohol or not.

                >How am I projecting if I'm directly quoting you?
Because its not judgmental or aggressive toward non-drinkers. Its judgmental and aggressive toward morons who think they have to have something in their hands that looks like an alcoholic drink.
                >You literally
                Shut up
                >the most likely reason someone isn't drinking is because they're a little b***h who can't handle a taste.
Thats what I gathered from your posts. Normal adults don't care about judgement of sipping an iced tea or a root beer at a bar, especially if they're with friends.
                >have you ever been in a bar but not drinking?
Yeah, a few times. I was the DD, everyone already knew and it kinda sucked hanging out with drunks but I got free dinner and we all avoided a DUI. It wasn't an issue where I felt I needed to run up a bar tab of $50 for juice.
                >It's boring and feels weird to not have a drink in your hand.
If its boring why the frick are you at a bar? If it feels weird not having a drink, why are you at a bar? Why can't you be a self-confident non-npc?
                >people will come up to you asking you if you need a drink and bother you about it.
THATS THE WAITRESSES JOB! She doesn't make money unless you're buying something. If you're with friends and let her know you're DD or sober or too moronic to drink alcohol she'll get you a free soda almost every time.
                >Self esteem literally is not a factor
If that were you true you wouldn't be defending self conscious mocktail drinkers. You're a dork and nobody wants to get a few drinks with you.

Spirits like whiskey, rum, gin, etc. still contribute flavor to the wienertail, but at 40% or more abv, too much character comes from the alcohol to be recreated from a NA alternative. Most of the reviews I've seen of these are basically "gross, this NA whiskey just tastes like flat coke". Instead of trying to knockoff liquor, I think more should be invested in trying to make spirit alternatives that carry themselves by their own unique merits instead of trying to pass themselves off as imperfect mock-versions of spirits.

Is there some additive in these that mimics the taste and feel of alcohol? Because otherwise I don't understand how the apple vodka will taste of anything other than weak apple juice.

    >but who is this stuff for?
zoomers who don't drink but don't want to be singled out for not having some sort of drink in their hand at gatherings. this is actually a pretty large emerging cohort. on the one hand it is funny to laugh at zoomers for being dullards but i think it's also good to have alternatives. if it sells, it's not a dumb idea. we're already pretty alcoholic as a society anyway.

Apple vodka alternative is very weak apple juice?

I used to not understand but then I started smoking CBD weed with zero THC while trying to quit. Sometimes it's nice to perform the ritual with all the familiar tastes. Your body still reacts when it recognizes that you're doing the thing it wants you to do, even though you don't end up intoxicated.

Alcohol captures and combines both water soluble and fat soluble compounds. They're trying to remove the alcohol after producing those flavour compounds while preserving the flavour as well as they can, so you can for instance be the designated driver and still drink something that isn't sweet. I haven't tried one that was particularly effective, and they never seem to even bother trying to get the texture right, but they've gotten better than they were ten years ago.
