Orange Chicken day made going to school worth it.

Most girls at my highschool either starved themselves or thought the food was absolutely disgusting and wouldn't eat more than a bite of their food.

You bet your ass i would grab 4 or 5 plates of their food to create a mountain of delicious orange chicken and rice. Oh it was GLORIOUS!

Swear to god it tasted better than panda express to my undeveloped tastebuds

That's because Panda Express is the McDonald's of Chinese food. Your school's and Panda Express' "chicken" and "orange" flavoring probably came out of the back of the same Sysco truck. Try an actual local Chinese restaurant, even a cheap one, and notice the world of difference.

i love how you tards love to ignore that Mexico is a European colony no different from the USA and not some native tribe with a organic culture. Most of their ingredients were brought there by the East Indie Trading Company (English) and sold/traded to Spanish settlers

In the U.S., 99% of the natives were genocided or herded onto reservations by the colonists. The British colonists stuck around after independence.

In Mexico, 99% of the moderns are mixed European–native people. Entire states toward the south of Mexico are still mostly native and still speak their native languages. The pure-blooded Spanish mostly left after independence. Not really the same at all.

      >i went to the lunch ladies and told them that it was good
I remember going to a new middle school after the DIVORCE and they had homemade cookies
I asked my grandma if she knew how to make potato chip cookies. she said no but to ask them if they had a recipe and she would break it down to a normal sized batch
I went in early one day and told them how much I liked the cookies. and asked if I could have the recipe.
it was a success and granny worked that math to get me a great odd cookie
I'm at the end of a bag of chips and I'm thinking of making a bakealong here soon

that 15 minutes might be too much, seems like it at least.
it's been some years since I made them

other than these cookies, turkey gravy on mash with folded butter bread was my favorite

plus I'll never forget the chance to work in the schools kitchen for free lunch (and extra food) at 9 years old.

When I was in elementary school they would serve burritos that I'm pretty sure came frozen and were heated on large trays in the oven. They always left them in there too long, but it wasn't very hot, either. So the tortilla would be browned and somewhat dried out, almost like a chimichanga but not fried. I want those so bad, it's 30 years later and I can still taste them. I get close making them at home, I think I need to just prepare the burritos then freeze them.

I have plenty of memories of my childhood. Just not of the specific lunches we were served in elementary school. oh and sometimes they'd do pigs in blankets, using the same dough they used for those rolls they'd bake up.

nice menu. i assume everything was put together from separate ingredients instead of being the usual frozen prison food. reminds me of my middle school which had a full kitchen that required some students to go help cook food before the lunch periods started. ironic considering it was a run down ghetto school. i lost all that good food when high school came around since the kitchen there was just a corner of the cafeteria that had a couple ovens

Yeah all of it was fresh. They had 4 schools in the school system located in 3 buildings (the high school and elementary were in the same building), so they made lunch for every school in the high school's huge kitchen and delivered it to the other schools every day. Granted, because this was a private school, we're talking only 70-80 kids per grade.

Rectangle pizza, tater tots, chocolate milk. A fully balanced meal for any child. Pizza? Vegetable. Tater tot? Vegetable? Chocolate milk? Important carbohydrates and protein.
    God bless America.

My high school had some of the most amazing chicken fingers and fries I've ever had. Even the teachers knew it, so if our class was right before lunch, they would let us out a few minutes early so we can go line up and make sure we got some.
Things were extra breaded and each the size of a chicken breast. Fries had some old bay seasoning on them too (MD gay).
I don't really remember most of my last couple weeks of HS, but I do remember the last chicken fingers and fries day and being actually bummed it was the last time I was gonna eat them.

I think that the united states school systems should spend way more money on providing quality food for students from breakfast to dinner

For me, it was sloppy joe day. I still remember the exact middle school menu:

    >Sloppy joe
    >Side of pallid mushy green beans from a giant institution-sized can
    >Side of pallid mushy corn kernels from a giant institution-sized can
    >Box of milk
    >Side of mixed fruits in syrup from a giant institution-sized can

It was great. You could mix the beans and corn together with the sloppy joe mix rather than eating them individually.

Vegetable soup and grilled cheese was what I went with most often, but steak nuggies were my favorite.
Rectangular pizza was a last resort.
I seldom ate lunch though because 2.25 per day was way beyond what my parents could afford and I lived in a shitty southern state that didn’t believe in things like charity, empathy, or insuring the next generation isn’t rendered moronic by malnutrition.

ive wanted this slop so bad since highschool but i cant justify buying trash food for it
    >shitty breaded chicken patty sandwich that the school always overcooks, which is a good thing
    >tater tots also overcooked so super crispy
    >put tater tots on the sandwich with 2 packs of ketchup
    >shitty warm chocolate chip cookie on the side and milk
my middle school also had a legit sandwich bar so i ate good there, highschool options were awful pizza, inedible burgers, soggy premade sandwiches with 1 slice of meat on them and salads, so tater tot chicken sandwich was it

My highschool had the best breakfast sandwiches. Piping hot burn your mouth breakfast sandwiches. English muffin, sharp cheddar cheese, egg, sausage, wrapped in tin foil. So hot like I said it'd scald my mouth sometimes. I'd go to school early and get breakfast and sit in the cafeteria doing homework until my first class. Those sandwiches were so fricking good

The square school pizzas were always so comfy, the taco pizzas that were hexagons were good. One of my favorites was this frozen pretzel dog they always served with mustard, those were the days. If any lurking zoomers are here, treasure every day you’ve got. One day you’ll do something you love for the last time and you won’t even know it
