Gouda is the best cheese. It's the one cheese you can have every day. Sure you can eat the meme cheeses a few times a year and enjoy them a little more, but the cumulative enjoyment you'd get from daily gouda use over that same year would dwarf that. Especially utter moldy meme shit that you probably eat once every 2 years. If you wouldn't eat it daily, it's not a good cheese - period.

Like I said you have a pleb take. Gouda had nothing on a good washed or bloomy rind cheese. You jusf slap your cheeselet cheese on a shitty sandwich, ritz crackers, or just take bites of it from the fridge. The amount you eat has no real bearing on it being the best or worst cheese. It is simply the most versatile for you.

Aged gouda has plenty on any washed rind cheese. You're clearly a cheeselet if you think all Gouda is the plain generic type.

FWIW, the best cheese is objectively västerbotensos, an aged hard Swedish cheese that's somewhere between aged parmegiano and a really nice creamy mature cheddar. Never tasted any other cheese like it.

Man, there are so many cheeses it's ridiculous. We used to have a cheese shop a couple blocks from our house (may it rest in piece) and we'd go in there every week or so just to talk cheese with the mongers and try new things. We'd always bring home like $50 worth of different cheeses. One of my favorite was a particular stilton that was made with like virgin's tears or something, it was so good.

As a Dutch person I can ensure you that Gouda style cheese, regardless of age and (un)pasteurized milk, is just about the blandest kind of cheese available. It's so bad that people just put it on mass-produced cheap bread or slatter it with mustard or some other kind of condiment.
In contrast: cheddar and gruyere style of cheeses, even when pasteurized, still have some sort of spicyness and gritty texture that's enjoyable as a luxurious snack, especially when it's directly from a farmer instead of a retailer.
