I like to eat very firm tofu with some hot sauce, sometimes I will replace the meat in whatever I'm making with fried tofu but I don't have any favorite recipe.

My favorite way to enjoy tofu is throwing it in the trash. The taste of tofu can only be described as a black hole. An eternal void from which no flavor can escape it's immense blandness.

I don't know why people say tofu is bland. It has flavour and lots of it. I actually quite enjoy tofu, even cold and on it's own.

Easy? Fried firm tofu crisps. Also steamed firm tofu with Chinese black beans.
My absolute favourite but not easy? Fried, vegetable stuffed firm tofu (tahu isi sayur).

Tbh I don't find most asian dishes visually appealing at all. I close my eyes or try not to look at it when I'm eating it. It tastes great though. Even sushi looks disgusting but tastes great

Fried medium tofu literally tastes like cheese curds to me for some reason, it's really tasty. Mabo tofu is classic of course though I prefer the harder tofu instead of the soft tofu the dish traditionally calls for. Honestly just subbing or adding tofu to most curries and stews is killer. Cabbage soup with tofu is good so is thai green curry with tofu.

My missus is Indian and she cooks a lot of paneer dishes. She makes the paneer herself and thought we had some in the freezer but was mistaken so instead, she used a block of firm tofu I had in the fridge I was going to use for something. Likely due to all the spices, but I couldn't tell much of a difference in the spinach curry she made with tofu vs the usual one with paneer

it's fricking delicious and now that my mum's dead, I have no idea how to make it how she did. She's not even Asian, she just learned to make it from a Javanese neighbour we had when we lived in Singapore.
I've tried other people's recipes but it's not the same.

are you using the right kind of tofu? you have to buy tofu puffs, they are not the usual kind

here in Singapore they are called Tau Pok but you might be able to find them in a asian store. They are already puffy and airy out of the package you just need to cut a slot into them to stuff your fillings

How do people eat this shit? I tried it once and it turns out I'm very allergic. My wife used to be vegetarian and got some homemade pork dumplings for me and she got herself some tofu ones from a coworker. well they weren't labelled and I ate the tofu ones by mistake. The taste was definitely off and not 15 minutes later, I was emptying my guts in the toilet.
