I hate new world wines: it taste like shit or like nothing at all. Californian is probably the worst offender. South African is probably worse but I don’t eat grapes from there because they taste like poop so I’ve never bothered trying their wine. Only brownoids shill new world wine both because of misplaced pride in their kin but also contrarian disdain for Europeans

I'm not going to tell you that I can't taste the difference between California, Niagara, South Africa, New Zealand, and France. I just don't find the differences to be that much better or that much worse by region - it's more case by case, or at least vintner by vintner.

yes but surely you know that there are bad vintage years where wines aren't as good? there are whole wine selling books archiving these for potential buyers so they know which years are the best and which years are for cheap wine to use in stews

            Anonymous

            >3 more years
Yes friend, literally every single time they did this the Americans won. France couldn't handle any more pain.

            >there are bad vintage years
Mhmmm yes and? What is your point? Are you suggesting the vintages used in the blind tastings were to the Americans advantage and Frances disadvantage?

Besides that, you should know the American vintners had been making wine for a very short time going against intergenerational French vintners. For the red wine, stags leap wine cellars made their first ever vintage in 1972, and the 1973 was used in the blind tasting. This beat out all of the other wines, even against a 1970 chateau Mouton Rothschild. Then they did it again in every repeat tasting for decades.

It's funny because the reason for the repeat tastings was the argument that French wines bottle age better and the American winemaking methods wouldn't support this. In reality, as the wine was bottle aged American wines kept moving up the rankings.

You mean Austria. Australia is a country in the southern hemisphere. Common mistake. The wine from AustrALia is rather well known for being terrible.

Actual wine professionals and fans or afficianado's don't limit their drinking based on stupid shit like you do. Stop ebing such an autistic loser. Hating Aregentina and Australiad doesn't make you cool anymore.

If you were posting this 30 years ago when even regions with moderate climates such as Coonawarra were making overly large wines for then middle-aged boomers then I'd be inclined to agree, but any catty broad strokes statements would also apply to the US

Old world is dying. Go to any wine shop and look at how much dust is on their old world bottles.
