Ah yes my favorite variant of tea, "tea"

      Anonymous

      I prefer black tea OP.

It's just using the generic "tea" for herbal teas that don't actually contain tea leaves, and therefor caffeine.

If it doesn't have caffeine, it's not fricking tea what is this shit

It's referring to those new age c**ts that use "tea" to refer to steeping any flower or herb in water and drinking that water. It's wrong, but they aren't going to stop using the word incorrectly.

Has anyone ITT actually had real matcha? Real matcha supposed to taste like seaweed or something. Almost all matcha sold in the US is a blend, and they don't have to disclose the percentages, so you know it's ~95% green tea to ~5% matcha, all for 500% more money.

I think I had the real deal once at a japanese tea ceremony, I do not remember it's taste at all. I wasn't a tea drinker until I became an adult and realized restaurant watered down black tea was not actually representative of actual tea.

The correct term for those non-tea "teas" is "tisane". Tea is made from the leaves of camellia sinensis, the tea bush.
