Which exotic animals are worth eating?

Or which do they think would be especially tasty?

As a general rule (excluding fish), predators don't taste good.

According to historical records, the giant tortoise is so delicious they were hunted to near extinction by the sailors that made it to the galapagos islands, which is why they became the world's first protected species.

For perspective's sake, apparently they were never able to catalogue them properly because no living specimens ever made it back to the scientists in the sailors' home country. They'd just end up eating any of the ones they had on the ship, because they were so good.

Might as well say according to QI because that’s where I heard that too

Fair enough. Nothing wrong with getting it from QI. I read about it in an article that was referencing an account by William Dampier.

In that era turtle soup was considered a delicacy and a population of large easy to catch turtles would have been considered a godsend pretty much automatically

dodos were also hunted to extinction, but people reported the taste to not really be anything special. i think the turtles were just easy to catch and had plenty of meat for sailors to harvest, and they get tired of eating hardtack

      Moa were the same.
giant 12ft tall turkeys that had never seen a land predator before.
the Maoris hunted them to extinction on both islands in just a couple of hundred years.
apparently they were so docile that you could literally just walk up to them and bonk them on the head.

when they died out, their only known predator the Haast Eagle died out too. if the Haast Eagle was alive today, then children and short women wouldnt be able to walk outside for fear of being picked up and taken away by a fricking eagle.

What is "exotic" to you? Eat local, find out what you're hunting seasons/regulations are and I bet that you'll find exotic in your backyard

I had kangaroo and crocodile in Australia.

They're both good although kangaroo just tasted like lean beef to me.

I imagine Crocs taste like fishy or salty gator, which tastes chickeny to me

it sucks that kangaroo is illegal to import in the us because some b***h thought they were extinct when they're a pest in australia and killed on site.

I would want to try rare fish in the ocean as long as it's not gonna poison me. Always loved seafood even if it's fishy tasting.
