I much prefer to meet the level of contemporary post quality so as to afford ESL and underage cretins the ability to extrapolate their own conclusions as to my intended dialogue using context clues and situational awareness. In actuality this is a 4th-dimensionally disguised cram thread sponsored by the Chinese Communist Party.

Well that changes everything. You should really be buying a higher quality EVOO.

I used to get some sicilian stuff in a square box at the "european store" down the road but they closed shop. Amazing box to cram btw, no foreplay at all just straight to a solid 3 inch gape. Any solid recs?

You were still buying low quality. Next time measure the can diagonally, like a TV. I don't have any particular suggestions, not knowing what you have available, but I'd say you should aim for at least a 4.5-5 inch gape when shopping for olive oil.

EV is for dressings and salads, use regular olive oil for all other kinds of cooking but DO NOT use Olive Pomace Oil, it's a recognized carcinogenic that the UK still uses in massive quantities.

      >EV is for dressings and salads
Did you mean to say "dressings and cramming"? "For dressings and salads" mean the same thing. And who said anything to make you think they were confused about that? Did you even read the thread?

the demand increased and the supply kept the same, nowadays everyone wants to cook with olive oil, the price increase is natural

most cooks and chefs Ive seen working use extra virgin for anything, also EV is already quite pricey in my country, filtered is double price, its not like Im deep frying with it

        >nowadays everyone wants to cook with olive oil

I don't get why people are using it in everything now. It has a distinct taste that definitely does not fit everything. It's not a universal cooking oil unless you want everything "mediterranian".

last I heard like 90% of olive oil sold in usa was like rape oil with green coloring

I mean looking at the bottle it's a blend from argentina, chile, tunisia, the u.s. and spain. I highly doubt any of these countries have ironclad inspection processes, yet they'll certainly capitalize on italian oil prices. I have no doubt I'm mostly going to be eating some sort of petroleum byproduct

The issue is with importers lying about the quality/country of origin. Nobody is trying to pass off dyed canola as EVOO. That would be moronic. You’d have to know nothing about food or cooking to believe that. Oh wait…

        >Seed oil is transparent, so they colour it with chlorophyll, to add green tints, and use carotenoids to obtain yellow traits. This creates an olive oil-ish colour.

That’s not an issue in the US. We can tell the difference between dyed canola oil and olive oil.
