At this point, it's cheaper just to buy hotdogs and buns and make them yourself. It's cheap if you crave a hotdog and don't feel like eating that for a week, not if you want to eat only that.

What's the price per dog (PPD) of buying a package of Kirkland long dogs and buns?

        Anonymous

I've never been to costco but 8 hot dog buns is $1.25 and 10 count wieners are $2.50 so you can make 8 hotdogs for less than 50¢ and have two wieners left over

Costco hotdogs are 1/4 lb of beef. Your 3 ounce turkey dogs aren't really the same.

True. I've never been to Costco but even eating two regular hot dogs is still $1

this can't be real, I'm pretty sure it's like at least $13 for a package of the big ones

Can't find the price of the pack online but it's apparently about under a dollar per link from some posts I've seen so you're left with 50¢ per hot dog to find buns if you want to break even with the cafeteria ones

39 cents per hotdog, using the absolute cheapest Walmart ingredients.
              I wouldn't eat it.

Not finding the actual kirkland brand prices online, but
        >1/4lb beef dogs, normal dog brand, no fancy shit
        >https://www.walmart.com/ip/Nathan-s-Famous-Colossal-Quarter-Pound-Beef-Franks-32-oz/52484128
$11 for 8 at walmart, $10 for the same pack at kroger looks like. $1.25 per dog assuming the $10 price.
        >dog buns, normal
        >https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ball-Park-Pre-Sliced-Bakery-Fresh-Classic-White-Hot-Dog-Buns-8-Pack-13-Ounces/10449317
$3 for 8, about 37 cents each. And that's all pre-taxes and everything. So while you can get close you'd be hard pressed to actually make this same dog at home for cheaper.

I believe there's 18 dogs in a pack, and in leafbux my Costco sells a pack for $23 and change.

The buns that go with it are 24ct and they are $9 and change.

        It's a deal, but barely.

Costco is not a good deal and if it were a good deal they wouldn’t be offering it. They only way you win is not to play. Their loss leaders exist for a reason.

It's a great deal. I more than made up for the cost of the membership just from buying peanut butter there. It's 25% cheaper than the cheapest grocery store in my area, and was almost 50% cheaper when they put it on sale in January.

Costco members are the highest per capita income slice of the American population already. I am positive people who regularly see a doctor would limit hot dogs to a rare treat only. I know for myself, I only want a dog if it's coming off a charcoal grill with grill marks or else has delicious relish or chutney, or some kind of fancy chili and a butter toasted bun, or maybe Colombian style.

6 bucks makes you 5 servings at home and only 4 from costco. nevermind the cost of driving there and bac 3 times a day.

Right out of college I had this job across the street from a Costco so I'd go there for lunch 3-4 times a week, mostly getting the hot dog deal because I was broke. After about a month I never wanted a hot dog ever again. Took years before I could stomach them.
