Because joggers would just rob them, increasing the need for police staff increases and more calls to tie up the lines. Easier for the gov if everyone just went to sleep at night. Plus, night markets mean the need for cleaning staff also not just for litter and trash but waste because people are buttholes.
As someone that used to do overnight stocking at a 24 hour grocery store (not walmart), the types of people that come out for shopping at that time of night do not want it to be some cutesy culture bullshit, most of them looked like they wanted to die.
i worked overnight stocking at a Kroger for a couple months and i can't even remember seeing people. i think maybe 3 or 4 people came in overnight the whole 8 months i worked there lol idk why they stayed open overnight they definitely spent more on paying us and keeping the lights on than they made
Most western people work regular business hours and are asleep at night, so it doesn't have a viable customer base. Also, lack of a dense population means you can easily get shopping done during the day. Night markets only appeal if everything is too crowded during the day making it convenient to shop at night.
Because big ass 24h stores and cold winters in much of the west.
You also don’t really see them in 1st world Asian countries either. Sure there’s a few, but not on the level of jungle-Asia.
In America the people who are willing to handle those inspections could never work nights. God forbid they aren't at the house to hear their teenage children snore.

Most countries where night markets are a thing are tropical with daily highs in the frick yous. It makes sense to go out when it's cooler. That's not a problem in Europe.
N
these are part of it
If you know, you know.
Because big business and government oversight made sure only wealthy people or poor people using their life savings can set up shop
I'm gonna sue you bastard! Those orange peels tried to kill me!!

It's cold as frick here. Night markets are for places where it's uncomfy to shop at noon
There's one every Wednesday here in town in America, it's a little contrived but I'll take it tbh
people don't trust products that aren't made by large corporations
Black folk
Rules, regulations, health and safety, licensing. In Asia pretty much none of that exists.
In America the people who are willing to handle those inspections could never work nights. God forbid they aren't at the house to hear their teenage children snore.
we have them seasonally
a full time night market sounds terrible ngl, just places that wont gamble on getting enough turnover for a store

Yeah because nobody ever robs indoor shops
Were you dropped on your head as a child?
It’s easier to rob outside than having to go indoors to do your robbing. There’s a reason stores in joggerhoods are heavily fortified

We have them here in Hawaii but it's mainly just a hipster novelty thing
