I just find it icky. The flavor isn’t that bad but nothing to write home about.

love 'em. always have a few nuri extra spiced in olive oil hanging around. this is one of those instances where paying for better quality is actually worth it. shit from the grocery store is just meh.

I don't mind them but would never seek them out. I feel like most people aren't particularly offended by the flavor, they just don't like the idea of consuming an entire fish. Same reason that most people are disgusted by Balut.

Call me crazy, but I think eating a small fish whole is a lot less disgusting than eating a slimy dead bird fetus covered in little baby feathers.

        >eating a small whole fish covered in tiny scales is better than eating a small whole bird covered in tiny feathers
It's not. You're just more used to one than the other.

The scales on sardines are so tiny that they are practically imperceptible. Canned sardines have also had their organs removed, and the most off putting thing to most people is the spine, which isn't hard to remove. Balut is this weird vaguely bird shaped sack of mucus, blood, bone, and hair like feathers. They are not even remotely comparable.

            >The scales on sardines are so tiny that they are practically imperceptible
Same with the feathers in balut. Most balut hasn't even developed feathers yet at all, but if it has then they're soft and barely noticeable, not just scaled-down adult bird feathers.
It really sounds like you have no idea what you're talking about, and are just making shit up to justify your disgust with something you aren't used to that's functionally identical to something equally disgusting that you are used to.

            Anonymous

Plenty of deenz brands come with inside organs, just not digestive tract. also, the scales are removed before cooking. You can see, taste and feel the unpleasantness of scales that get left in, they dont go as soft as the bones.

they probably made the mistake of getting them in water instead of olive oil. the olive oil helps offset the "fishy" part of the taste.

Not true at all. If you need to offset the "fishy part" then you are not even a fan of fish in the first place. homosexuals like you are not welcome in deenz threads.

    specially on NA
like what the frick is wrong with Asian and NA sardines cans? they taste like shit
Only brand of Sardines I like are from south america and they're the ones in tomato sauce. Everything else is tolerable but tastes usually bad to me.

might want to check the sugar on those chief, I had a can of sardines from Riga in tomato sauce and they were great except I checked the label after and it had like 12g of sugar per serving ADDED not just the sugar found in tomatoes.

true, I never considered anything on tomato sauce to be healthy.
        I eat them on occasion

I'm mildly allergic to them but I still eat them because they're cheap and a great source of protein.
My throat just gets itchy and it gets hard to breath is all. Same thing with shrimp but oddly enough crab is fine for me.

never had any other than Old Riga brand so can't recommend. If it's like any other canned fish, they probably come from the same cannery if the country of origin is the same.

I'll stick with smoked herring and kippers. Sardines are too fishy.
