Why is it that spray cooking oils do this? How come not everyone else does it? WHY is this allowed?

it's some trickery to do with the serving size and rounding down, it's not actually zero calories and you are likely not using that serving size

Why can't everyone else do the same?

because you can't claim a serving size is a ridiculously small amount. it has to be a reasonable serving size.

WTF are using spray """oil""" if you are spraying for minutes?

1/4 second spraying time is ridiculously short, most people don't even have the necessary reaction time to pull it off.

You may be surprised to learn that lots of people cook for more than one person at a time. Takes me a second or so to coat the pan when cooking for four.

I put the can on my food scale, tare it, spray my pan, then place the can back on the scale to see exactly how much I used.

          >I have a kitchen scale that goes to the tenth of a milligram

What surprises me the most is that you need a psh-psh retard toy to oil your pan if I'm gonna be honest with you. Do your spoons make airplane noises when you use them as well?

You're misunderstanding lol. I weigh how much oil I actually sprayed and then log it properly using my fitness pal. On average I use about a 5g so roughly 40 calories per spray for me. Not falling for the "0 calorie" on the nutrition label.

the real criminal part is that they aren't giving you real numbers like everywhere else in the world. canola oil could be as low as 33% and you wouldn't know because it's america

This guy knows. some oils are pretty viscous and benefit from adding a dash or 2 of alcohol like everclear so they don't clog as easily, but this is still the best way.

Because every company does, there's no standardization because if there was there would be more informed decision making which would affect profits. I once bought a calzone that very sneakily said that it was considered "2 portions" because if it was considered 1 it would have been over 100% of your daily fat intake.

And remember, if a company gets in trouble for anything they will pass the fines onto you. You're nobody and there's nothing you can do about it.

Portion sizes are regulated by the FDA and adjusted from time to time based on community surveys. Manufacturers are not free to choose their own serving size. They are however allowed to round down to zero anything below 0.5. They can't alter serving sizes to get there no matter what /x/ tells you. The government mandated service size for spray oil is 0.25g, just like the label states.

Alright smart guy what can you tell me about zero sugar drinks? Are they truly zero sugar or have they simply found a way to avoid having their alternative be considered in the nutritional information?

Their sugar alternative isn’t sugar, so it’s sugar free, galaxy brain

but who checks? the FDA doesn't measure all that shit. they rely on the honesty of the manufacturers
for example, when tested by outside agencies, the calorie listed for processed foods are lower than the actual calories
all corporations cheat on everything all the time

The FDA does. That's literally their job.
          >they rely on the honesty of the manufacturers
no they don't. if they catch them selling products that deviate from the original samples and standards they get fined and go to court.
          >all corporations cheat on everything all the time

            >The FDA does. That's literally their job.
The FDA does inspections of facilities, they don't regularly check the nutritional content of processed food, bootlicker. Product recalls are usually initiated after someone gets sick, not from the FDA checking anything

the NIST defines data on all ingredients used to inform an FDA-backed nutritional facts label. no one can legally sell any item claiming health benefits (including food) without an FDA approved label. the FDA doesn't have to check each product, it just has to ensure the creators are using NIST measured ingredients. during FDA facility inspections, they confirm the manufacturer is using NIST-approved ingredients, so yes, you dumbass, they do.

Don't be naive. AT&T routinely gets caught padding customer bills. Auto manufacturers conspired to install devices to cheat regulators. Wells Fargo created millions of fake accounts. And you're telling me food manufacturers have accurate nutritional info? Because of the very same FDA that tried to help Bayer cover up their deliberate murder of thousands of people makes sure the food industry is compliant. The FDA, the industries they regulate, and the lobbyists for those industries are all the same people

                lmao okay
OSHA would take 300 years to inspect every jobsite they cover at current manpower levels, even visiting them only once
the FBI can't even be trusted to put together their own applications to the FISC without having them inspected by an uninvolved field office before submission
ATF agents are too fucking obese to do their jobs
IRS has been used to target political rivals since the obama administration and routinely target ordinary citizens because they know the wealthy can fight them
but yeah, the FDA is for sure in your corner and staffed by competent incorruptibles, no cap

those are all private companies. private companies being greedy and fucking people over for money, wow who would have guessed? it's almost like they need regulation, like what the NIST and FDA do. who's the bootlicker again?

                >they're better than nothing
yes, anon that's true but they're not doing a damn thing thing of substance til they get consumer complaints. if you've ever worked in a factory or warehouse or any jobsite due for some kind of inspection, you know exactly how it works. everybody puts on all the safety gear, makes everything the right way, does it all right while the inspectors are in the building, and that immediately ends the second someone spots the inspector's car leaving the lot

oh, and remember when there was that huge baby formula shortage in the US cause a bunch of plants were shut down? they were waiting on the FDA to inspect, but they somehow couldn't manage to get inspectors to the plants to confirm the correction of problems
so instead we imported tons and tons of the shit from China
