Wierd Lobster

I posted this once before, but didn't really get a good answer.

I work in a seafood restaurant, have fore a couple years, but one day, when it came time to do murder time with Mrs. Lobster (yes I can tell the difference between males and females), after I split her open and removed the tomalley and the roe sack, she looked like this. I've never seen this before, and my manager just told me to do a different lobster because it looked weird.

Does anyone know why the flesh of a live lobster would look like this?

OP here, no, that was what was so weird about it. She was totally alive. Like I said, it was murder time. Still thrashing about trying to get off my cutting board. I even cooked her, just to see, and it smelled fine, but I didn't want to taste it, because I thought it might have some kind of infection.

Dude it's oxidized copper that's the exact color

I understand that, and I'm not trying to argue, it's just confusing, because when I cooked it, the meat didn't stay that color. I wish I'd taken a picture, but the tail meat turned white just like a normal lobster tail, except it had a slight orange tint to it, king of like how the eggs do.

    >There are a few reasons why raw lobster meat might appear green. One possibility is that the lobster was not cooked or handled properly, causing bacteria to grow on the meat and produce a green color. Another possibility is that the lobster's diet included a lot of green pigments, such as chlorophyll, which can sometimes cause the meat to appear green. Finally, certain species of lobsters, such as the European lobster, naturally have greenish-blue pigments in their shells that can sometimes transfer to the meat.

It's amazing how zoomers don't use punctuation, but still insert it randomly in their head. Simple forms of communication are fine when they're supplemented with context and face-to-face expression, but you people literally live on the internet. It's no wonder nobody wants to hire you; you people are like animals.

lobster flesh contains a fatty, greenish protein-goop often called tomalley-- normal part of their anatomy & is used to regulate their blood-sugar & filter stuff out of their bloodstream.

if the lobster has been properly quarantined in a holding-tank for a suibtable amount of time--and the bulk of whatever has been sitting in their bloodstream has been filtered-out--then it is probably safe to eat.....some people just eat that shit plain, I think its fucking gross tho

to clarify, these restaurant lobster are full of tomalley because they were probably very well-fed, compared to what you might find in a grocer or in-the-wild

You said it was a female lobster? Well there's a saying in the lobster community: "once you go green you never come clean"

Kek. The odds of finding that thing are like 1 in 50 million. God gives everyone one lucky event in their lives and you squandered yours on a green lobster.

Lobsters sometimes have natural variants in color. Just consider it a shiny. You're really dumb for not eating it, would've been a million dollar meal.

lobsters come in all sorts of colors and some can be extremely rare. the coloration happens because of genetic mutations and can also happen through extreme changes in diet. keep in mind i'm someone on the internet and i actually have no idea what i'm talking about.

It is either intentionally dyed blue for Internet clout or it could be an extremely rare genetic condition that causes blue pigmentation of the carapace and tissues. It occurs in lobsters, crawfish, crabs, and other crustaceans.
